Author Topic: Why do some of my addons get ignored in the Holding Tank?  (Read 2472 times)

Ephi (or anyone else who is a mod for RTB/can inform me), if you're reading this, could you enlighten me on the workings of the RTB holding tank? I'm not mad or anything, just a bit confused as to why certain addons of mine get accepted in a day, yet addons that I released weeks before are still sitting there? I have two addons in the holding tank that have been there for weeks (V1 still not accepted), and I have V2 ready to update to and V3 to update to on another (although I'll have to to call it V2 since I can't update directly from V1 to V3). A week or so after these were submitted, I submitted another addon which, to my surprise, was accepted in less than 24 hours. I guess I'm just confused as to why this keeps happening to me. My second addon released on RTB I had to completely re-submit because it simply wasn't getting accepted.

Now, I understand that all the RTB mods have their own lives to deal with, and they can't devote themselves to moderating addons. However, if it's not too much trouble, could the addons be gone through systematically, without being skipped over? It would be much appreciated. I hope to someday become a trusted submitter (or whatever their title is) so I don't have to wait. But until then, I'll have to wait for the mods to approve them.

you should send ephi a pm or post in the rtb topic
having it here wont help you much

I submitted something to RTB 3 months ago and it's still in the holding tank. I don't really care if it stays.

If you message him he will take care of it. This topic was not needed.

If your addon is special it will get accepted quickly, if it's junk or borderline, it will sit in there. Reviewing addons is a tedious task that takes a lot of time, average addons just aren't appealing to look at in the depth required for a review.

Pshh.

Renderman Mod v3 was in the holding tank for almost 4 months. You gotta remember there are only 2-3 people in the RTB Mod reviewing staff, and no more (despite almost continuous suggestions for ephi to recruit more)

Also, like Lub said, average add-ons such as packs containing one gun and vehicles aren't actually very functionality-heavy - most mods that add something physical to the game are just datablocks, and datablocks aren't easy to mess up without it showing in a big way. If you think about it, having a little list of trusted submitters speeds the process up, since you don't have to dissect their add-ons for backdoors, conflicts and errors because you know they won't have done a botch job; which speeds up reviewing for the rest.

Saying that, though, the mod community's growing every day, and if you couple that with the low-staff problem RTB has, you get serious stockpiling. It's probably gonna get worse before it gets better.

I put something up sometime in january, it wasn't even looked at (at least, as far as i can tell, which is not at all). I took it down last month, although I couldn't remember doing it. By now the add on has been changed significantly, and honestly I didn't really want it submitted after it was changed so much, I left it in there so I could update it when it was accepted (I don't think you can update it before its accepted), and to see just how long it would take. 7 months, still wasn't checked out..

I understand that the little additions will be more boring to look at than the brand new super awesome amazing stuff, but still, 7 months compared with around 7 hours (which is just a guestimate).. Its dumb to say the least. All addons should be looked at, not just the ones the moderators like.

woah
as soon as i post it floods with responses

I submitted a vehicle 9 days ago, I didn't expect it to be accepted immediately but I hope it doesn't take 3 months.

Oh great, I literally just submitted for my first time 2 days ago. this is an uplifting topic.

I PM'd Ephi 2 times, and Emailed him once over the past week about 2 mods i uploaded a while back.
No response.
jesus christ ephi what the forget

once one of my things stayed in the holding tank for like 8 months and then it just vanished

I don't understand why Ephialtes hasn't added developers/moderators yet who have the time and interest in developing/moderating RTB.

it seems that both eric and ephi have some trust issues with the BL populace

I'm fairly busy at the moment so low risk things will get approved while risky things or submissions of questionable quality are going to wait until I have more time. I'm also on vacation right now.

I've said it before: there's significant work I need to do before I can get more people helping with the review process, I already have a list of people I think can cope with the job. I just don't have time to do that work right now.

That's where we're at.
