Author Topic: We had an internet safety assembly and well...  (Read 3889 times)

1. We were all told about the dangers of the internet, how horrible it can be. We were told the Amanda Todd story... Which all of the kid's had heard once or twice.
2. We were all told that we shouldn't be on any Social Networking Site (facebook, myspace, instagram, etc) until we're 16, And no foruming until we're 14...

God.. just about everyone in my class was on a social site by now and most were like.. 12 or 13! And like half of the kid's forum right now.

Just insert a facepalm right here.

Internet safety in a nutshell:
Guys, don't go to sites because people can be mean and you might see snake!

You were all told the Amanda Todd story?

That's interesting, because all of her stuff got started because she was flashing herself off to people on the internet.

She reaped what she was sowing.

So basically, don't be a forgetin' idiot, and bad things won't happen.

i don't understand why parents and authority constantly harp over internet safety.

I mean the internet just reflects the societal behavior.  The only thing that skews the behavior is anonymity.

Someone who keylogs a computer to get bank account information probably wouldn't rob a bank because he feels more safe on the internet due to a sense of anonymity.

So basically the internet is the same as real life, there are places you don't go, and people you shouldn't talk to.

We don't just stuff on the entire world and pound into kids heads that they should forever stay inside because bad things might happen if they open the door, we warn them about what could be an issue and how to avoid it.

Anywho, that's basically my rant on the subject

A lot of educators just don't get it. Anyone can use the Internet safely with common sense. Which Amanda Todd did not use.

My parents never talk to me about internet safety because I'm not stupid when someone sends me a random link or something like that

lol the amanda todd story

did the teachers know she basically flashed her body on cam repeatedly lol

how to not be offended when using the internet:
1. don't be a moron
2. turn off your computer and walk away

why do schools blow this stuff out of proportion so much

um

why do schools blow this stuff out of proportion so much

Propaganda, really.

Everything is just an attempt to control the masses more and more.

basically, don't associate with morons and you're good

Teachers can go forget themselves. honestly. I mean c'mon I've been on facebook since 2009 and I had no issues with anything. Deactivated it this year

My parents never talk to me about internet safety because I'm not stupid when someone sends me a random link or something like that
What about all those links on Skype.
HMHMMHMHMH?!?!?!?!?
