Yellow Castle, first released in Europe in 1978, was the first LEGO castle. The yellow mimics yellow plaster found on some castles.
In 1981, the Yellow Castle was released in America with the number 6075. The sticker colors were lighter than the European version. There are three sticker color variations.

Blacksmith Shop, released in 1984 for the Lion Knights, was the first modular castle shop.

Guarded Inn was released in 1986 for the Lion knights. It has an timber frame inn connected to a castle wall section.
In 2001, Guarded Inn was released again as the first LEGO Legend set with the number 10000.

This long time favorite was originally released in 1986.
In 2002, Black Falcon's Fortress was released again as set 10039. It is the second castle Legend.

Battering Ram was released in 1987.

Forestmen’s Hideout, the second Forestmen set, was released in 1988.

Black Monarch’s Castle, released in 1988, was the first LEGO castle with black walls.

Forestmen's River Fortress was released in 1989.

Forestmen’s Crossing, a tree and a rock fortress with a river spanning bridge, was released in 1990 for the forestmen.

King's Mountain Fortress, released in 1990, was the first Crusader castle on a raised baseplate.

Wolfpack Tower, released in 1992, is the flagship Wolfpack set.

Black Knight's Castle was released in 1992.

Dark Dragon’s Den, released in 1993, is a rock fortress for the Dragon Masters.

Fire Breathing Fortress, released in 1993, was the castle for the Dragon Masters.

The Magic Castle Box had a limited release in the United States and Canada in 1994.

Royal Drawbridge, released in 1995, is a tower and bridge for the Royal Knights.

Royal Knight's Castle was released in 1995.

Dark Forest Fortress was released in 1996 for the Forestmen.

"Witch's Magic Mountain" "The Evil Mountain" or "Witch's Magic Manor", released in 1997, is a rocky fortress for the Fright Knights.

Night Lord's Castle was released in 1998 for the Fright Knights.

King Leo's Castle was released in 2000 for Knight's Kingdom.

Blacksmith Shop was released in 2002 by LEGO. It was originally a custom set designed by Daniel Siskind in 2000. LEGO purchased the rights and made the Blacksmith Shop the first set in their "My Own Creation" line of fan designed sets.

Black Falcon Mountain Fortress is a custom set designed by GhostStar. the rights to this set were never (and probably never will be) purchased by Lego.
