Author Topic: Is it ever gonna be possible to use brick textures client sided again?  (Read 6247 times)

changing your brick textures is easy but they are and have always been 100% server sided
Altiris is right
I meant "why wouldn't he be" because, well, why would you lie on something like that?

And why do you have to be an starfish to everybody?
Maybe I've just seen the ones where you were, but it seems like every time I see your avatar you posted something that made you sound like an assface.

Then you leave the server. It was never possible in the first place moron.
You thunder forget, some people may like having ramps being smooth or having squideeys brick textures on 24/7. And that isn't possible because of like 5 lines of code or something.

...

I would know, because I made myself some custom textures and I played with them in servers when I first made them? Or I just have a lapsus.

If a server uses different brick textures then it's to archieve some special effect, maybe having all faces blank (no lines) or whatever, and random idiots shouldn't be allowed to ruin it all by using their stuffty custom textures.

It's server-sided, accept it.

Then let the host have an option for players to have client side textures if there not trying to achieve an special effect.

Let people "ruin" whatever the forget they want, they are the ones who have their experience ruined after all.

I'm all for client-sided textures.

I remember it being client-sided aswell, an update changed it

itt
1: "never happened"
2: "yes it did"
1: "no it didn't shut up"
3: "it did"
4: "it did"
5: "it did"

So yeah. I'm thinking that you could've done this. (I never tried it, but judging from this, you definitely could've.)
So stop telling us that you think that we don't know what we're talking about and think about what you are talking about.

This is why we can't have nice things

You never could.
But why are people remembering that they could do it before?

Oh screw it, I don't want to be involved in another argument.

if you are too scared to get in an arguement then just quit posting, don't go

Brick textures were changed by replacing the files in Base/Data/Shapes. I clearly remember doing this and having them be changed for everyone else coming on.

Perhaps there was a mod or something that added client sided textures but I know that you could make server sided ones that everyone saw.
I'm sticking to my answer that it is not and was never possible. (Although server sided textures can be easily done.)

I am beyond positive that brick textures were previously client-sided replaceable. After the launcher update, you also grab the server's brick textures.

This is true, making the images "read only" would mean the launcher couldn't re-download them and replace them and then you can have the textures replaced by the ones you put it. I did it before, it's client-sided, it doesn't have to be an add-on. I think you can still do it.

While you're at it, let them change the environment settings client-sided as well!

The clients see the textures the server has. Not what the client has.
