Author Topic: Why are Gamecube game so expensive?  (Read 3807 times)

Today I was looking for some of my favorite childhood titles such as Super Smash Bros Melee, Mario Kart Double Dash, Pokemon XD and etc. I looked on Gamestop and they barely had them, and most of them were in the 20's 30's or 40's! So then I checked on amazon, same thing. Everywhere I look on the web, its expensive. Why are the favorite such as Super Mario Bros or Mario Kart cheap? There have been many other titles in the series, so why hasn't the price gone down. If so, could someone link me to a cheaper source to buy gamecube games?

you can always go on craigslist and trade loveual favors for games like i always do

Well.. you answered your own question..  those games are favorites and classics.  Therefore the demand for them is still pretty high, especially when you consider they aren't being made anymore.  So yeah, they're gonna be expensive.

Because they are so popular and are on high demand?

I was talking about NES games. Classics like Mega Man and stuff sell for 5 dollars! People are in way more demand for NES games for collections.

No one I know nor a high portion of my school (2k+ people) has owned or has on

On Ebay it's about 10x cheaper. GameStop just rips people off.

Ehhh, I don't know if I can trust Ebay, it's an anonymous source you're getting it from.

I know, but you usually have to go by the sellers reputation. I mean, sometimes you gotta risk things. I've had to use Ebay a few times, and I haven't had a problem. I just avoid buying anything above 10 bucks.

Used games nowadays are like 30 - 40 dollars. You're comparing a game from 2003 to a game from 2008 and above.

Dam I remembered when Gamestop charged me around 50$ for Mario Party 4 in like 2007

Saw one at a gamestop for only $20, why I didn't buy it....

i once tried to turn in my gamecube and like 5 gamecube games and they said they would give me like 10 dollars with some kind of gamestop points

nope, not doing it
