It's a shame it happened.
While there were obviously prior events that lead to 9/11, it is undoubtedly one of the key reasons for many of the events that have happened in the Middle East and the rest of the world since.

Whatever the future is like in 100+ years, 9/11 will definitely be a big point mentioned in any history books of the 21st century.

We're still a heck of a lot better off than a lot of the world, after all. Why should we complain too much?

I was with you up until this part. First it makes no sense, and second it doesn't really apply at all.

First, the not making sense part. Of course we're better off than a lot of people, that doesn't mean we don't have problems. If you follow what you just said that means you should never ever complain about anything. Because, heck you're a lot better off than most of the world. It's like finding out someone's mom died and telling them so what, there are children starving to death in Africa.

It doesn't apply like at all. How is mourning on 9/11 complaining? We should just forget it ever happened and say nothing? A majority of people in America right now were alive when it happened. Of course they're going to mourn over it because it was a really big deal. Again, it's like telling someone not to be sad on the anniversary of a loved one's 'death.

I personally don't care that much about 9/11. That's mostly because I was only in 2nd grade when it happened and didn't really get how serious it was at the time. It also didn't affect me at all, I didn't lose anyone I cared about. But that doesn't mean I don't have empathy for the people that were affected by it.

i love how people say they should get over it lol

did Japan forget about hiroshima

did Russia forget about the second revolution

did Germany forget about the holocaust

yeah guys history isn't a big deal lets all drop everything

I don't know, it was a horrible event but when are we going to let it go? It's been twelve years, the men who did it are dead. The man who planned it out is dead. I mean, the Vietnam war was also horrible, but we don't have a day that we mourn over that every single year.
Memorial Day? It's like......a federal holiday.

I'm not sure what this has to do with anything. Nobody is complaining except you, about this topic. There is a difference between remembering and complaining.

Why does everyone think that remembering 9/11 is all about remembering what happened on that day? It's not like we are going to forget what happened. Hardly anyone, when 9/11 is brought up, thinks about all the firefighters who died, all the people serving in the military who have died prior to 9/11, or the other thousands of people who died for their country.

Start remembering the right things, but don't forget the bad things.

i love how people say they should get over it lol

This^

im american but let me just say, the exaggeration of 9-11 is basically because it is one of the very few attacks on the US on US soil, so they exaggerate it and commemorate the losses etc

yeah i find it silly too, but like i said it's one of the few attacks.
