Author Topic: Headphones: Beats Mixr VS Bose Q15  (Read 6714 times)

So I want to get new headphones, I gave up on getting wireless ones because I probably wont get any with the good bass(I don't care about extreme base, but I also don't want no bass), great sound quality and are comfortable.

My budget is $300.

Currently Looking At

Beats Mixr Black
Bose Q15

I'm open to suggestions on other headphones.

Beats are like the laptop division of alienware, you pay for the name etc, try looking at sennheisers. those bose's look nice though.

Why do people spend so much money on headphones?

Okay don't answer a normal question
Maybe we can recommend you some decent headphones for decent prices

I guess not

Reverse-price on any shop website and look at reasonable-priced headphones reviews that don't seem like you pay the brand.

Why do people spend so much money on headphones?
My previous 3 pairs of headphones have been these:
Beats earbuds - $120
Klipsch earbuds - $110
Bose Earbuds - $100

Bose being the most recently bought, my cat chewed the wire on them in half a few days ago. I recently bought $20 Auvio sport earbuds the other day since my Bose earbuds were done for, and I can honestly say these $20 earbuds are the best headphones I have ever had. The bass is better than all 3 listed above, as well as the quality and they are not even broken into yet. People pay massive amounts of money for the name and don't even notice that you can get a pair for a fifth of the price while still having the same quality. I'm blown away by how awesome they sound. I feel stupid for spending that much money just for the name.

Why do people spend so much money on headphones?

For the same reason people spend so much money on a car, desktop, home, cell phone, TV, musical instruments, etc. etc.

You can get a very good pair of headphones for that price. As mentioned, Beats is overpriced as hell. You pay for the name. Boss is decent, but not the best.
Try looking into Sennheiser, Beyerdynamic, AKG or Audio Technica. It depends very much on what you want to use it for. Gaming requires different cans than heavy metal, which again requires different cans than classical or jazz music.

Also, since you want to spend that much money, I HIGHLY recommend going over to head-fi.org and asking there. It's a forum for audiophiles. Those guys know what they're doing, and they can give you a good recommendation. Unlike the BL forums.

because modern music file types and modern portable players can handle sound that regular speakers cant pick up
