Author Topic: iphone 5s utilizes fingerprint scanning  (Read 6430 times)

holy bandwagon
actually I'm pretty sure the bandwagon is all the weird apple hate

I'd get the iPhone 5C if I wouldn't have just recently got a new phone

ITT: everyone joining the anti-iPhone circlejerk
considering the last update was how long ago and now all this update adds is a cheaper model and nothing but a fingerprint scanner, yeah i'll join in this round about how they're a waste.

this. android gives apps too much freedom over how their UI looks and stuff.

wtf is this these are some ugly UIs

the default 4.2.2 UI is nice as it is really idk why people would want to change it

Even though Apple purchased an entire biometrics company for this feature, yeah half assed for sure.
every big gimmick (see: useless stuff that could be avoided or not needed) apple has done (Siri, Maps, LTE capability on the 5) is always trash when it first comes out and doesn't become efficient or useful until later way after launch.

Also 64 bit architecture is a big deal.
no it's not.

It's difference of only having 2-3 gigs of RAM,
no it's not (the most RAM a phone has is probably the Galaxy S4 at 2GB of RAM.  until we start pushing 4GB phones this isn't even a problem).

having slow ass processes
no it's not (see brown townogy about shirt vs. no shirt).  internet explorer 32-bit is not slower than internet explorer 64-bit.  if it is, it's barely a performance to even be noticed.

and being able to utilize more than 8 gigs.
no it's not (see above).

But of course people are going to hate the iPhone for the sake of hating it.

honest to god if there was a stuffload of new features that were worthwhile i would honestly be praising it.  just a fingerprint scanner and no mention of quad core processing?  lame.

edit:  forgot to mention that the only other noteworthy feature is the whatever "features" they added to the camera.  still 8 MP and (like i said about android's facial recognition) those features prob won't work right.

bandwagon (on both sides)

that is all

I'd like to address that any of the features you listed have been Apple developed. Even now Siri is pretty useful. My dad uses it all the time to take notes and write emails in his business. The fingerprinting is from a completely separate company based solely in biometrics, I don't see how they could half ass that. Also iOS 7 is one of the single largest changes to the device's UI, and tbh its lovey as forget. It's clean, streamlined, and efficient. Dual camera flash is also nice. Bigger camera is also nice. iTunes radio also kills Pandora because entire iTunes library.

i think what he means is
they should reduce the price for such an incremental change to the overall phone

Justifiable, as I do agree that their prices are less than agreeable with.

i've done tons and tons and tons and holy stuff have i done tons of research on apple to android products in the phone department + tablets

i can tell you with a 300% guarantee that iphones are at least a $70-120 waste in terms of functionality/quality of parts in comparison to a similar android phone. the most frequent reason i've seen for someone wanting to go android to apple is they get tired of android's look; let me give it to you plain and simple: it ain't worth it.

I bet the fingerprint feature is just going to end up like Siri and Galaxy's face recognition.
Only interesting for 5~10 minutes.
Idk about you, but I use Siri literally every day. It's so much easier (especially when driving) to hold the home button for a second and say "Call Mom" instead of unlocking the phone, opening the phone app, pressing M, scrolling through all my M contacts until I find "Mom," tapping on her name, then tapping on her phone number. I also use Siri to read me text messages while driving, occasionally to send replies (though her voice recognition isn't really good enough to use this often), and to set notifications for stuff I know I'll forget about. I may be the only person in America, but Siri has improved my life a ton.

Not for you to decide. As a consumer, I decided what's worth it. Based on experience, android phones tended to get incredibly bogged down, back when I had one deleting messages took way too long, the the overall feel of getting apps and using some of them was super sketchy.

I got the iPhone 4S a while back, and since then I've had nothing but good experiences. Don't see myself getting a 5S or 5C, but perhaps in the future I will sell my old phone to upgrade. All I know is if things continue to stagnate in the mobile phone industry, I'll stick to what I'm comfortable with.

De gustibus non est disputandum.
