'All these effective, scientifically-based medicines cause side effects. I hope that when I'm older I will be able to spend money on medicine that doesn't work'.

Holistic remedies do work, in Asia and in the West Indies life expectancy's are much higher than the US. Too many Americans eat terribly, and the pharmaceutical companies don't provide a service; it's just a business. These medications in the long run destroy so many things in your body. I honestly don't trust any of it. A lot of Westernized medicine isn't good. Barbados is one West Indian country which has very high life expentencies and they mainly use simple medications and many holistic remedies.

i think i may have add
but im not failing so i'll keep that excuse in the holster for now

jesus christ you're easy to presuade
thanks

that's a bad trait

I doubt you really have ADHD. With my sister it's the other way around, she has autism, but she's so advanced it doesn't even seem like it :I

It could be Aspergers, you never know. A lot of doctors tend to misdiagnose Autism.

I have ass burgers aspergers
I only found out last year >:U

More like "all these FDA approved placebo drugs have undesired side effects. When I grow up I want something that doesn't have side effects".
You're contradicting yourself. If they're FDA approved, that means they've gone through trials that prove beyond doubt that the drugs are more effective than placebos in treating issues. The reason modern drugs have side effects is because they actually do something. The reason holistic/eastern medicine doesn't have side effects is because they don't have primary effects either.

I'll leave Caribou's handicapation to SeventhSandwich.

A lot of these drugs have side effects, and most are bad. The typical ones are: "loss of breath may be involved, constant throwing up, weakness, migraines, death, miscarriage, loss of sperm cells". It doesn't seem like they do much beside cause more complications. I realize that sometimes traditional medications are necessary in scenarios, I won't be that close-minded.

Completely wrong. Average life expectancy in China is ranked ~30 places lower than the United States according to this list:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_life_expectancy

Funny how all the highest countries are ones with socialized health care based on science-based medicine :)

Too many Americans eat terribly, and the pharmaceutical companies don't provide a service; it's just a business..
I don't see what dietary choices have to do with pharmaceuticals, and furthermore all businesses provide services. That's literally the definition of a business.

These medications in the long run destroy so many things in your body.
Give me a specific medication.

I honestly don't trust any of it. A lot of Westernized medicine isn't good.
Do you want me to explain how a double-blind placebo-controlled clinical study works, or will you just take my word for it when I say that pharmaceutical medicine is proven to work better than Hollistic remedies?

Barbados is one West Indian country which has very high life expentencies and they mainly use simple medications and many holistic remedies.
Barbados is ranked #38 in life expectancy, which is up to 5 years lower than countries that do use modern medicine (such as Japan or Switzerland).

Furthermore, while it's probably true that some people from Barbados make use of so-called alternative medicines, modern medicine has definitely become the primary established form of health care in Barbados. From what I can see, the Barbados Ministry of Health is associated with the WHO and other such organizations. According to Barbados.org, "Barbados has a high standard of health care which is easily accessible to all. The main Government hospital - the Queen Elizabeth Hospital - has 600 beds and offers specialized care in areas such as pediatrics, obstetrics, plastic surgery, radiology, etc. ".

I think you may have been given some spurious information.

A lot of these drugs have side effects, and most are bad.
All effective medication comes with a side effect. It's an inherent part of human biology. Why do you think that all the alternative remedies that are 'side effect free' are also the ones that fail to pass double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical studies?

The typical ones are: "loss of breath may be involved, constant throwing up, weakness, migraines, death, miscarriage, loss of sperm cells".
Where are you getting these statistics from? Side effects are called side effects because they are usually not statistically prevalent in patients taking the medication.

I realize that sometimes traditional medications are necessary in scenarios, I won't be that close-minded.
You're close-minded because you're making outrageous claims about medicine with very little comprehension of the material.

You are both close minded. SeventhSandwich have you heard of Thalidomide? It was drug proven to cure morning nausea for pregnant women, however many women took it and the end result was babies born with nasty birth defects. Just type in Thalidomide into google imagines. Igloos, black walnut is used in herbal medicine, but is proven to be toxic.

um...

Am I one of the only ones that doesnt have some mental thing?

is it just me or does almost everyone on this forum have some sort of mental disorder? it's like one in five people have autism, adhd, add, literal lack of a brain, etc.
oh! this is a good time to bring up "Charles' Theory!"

see what i think is everyone on the forums has at least one mental disorder

that's it

whaddyou have?

Wait whoa, Igloos? Who is Igloos?

Congratulations, you're citing one of the flaws of modern medicine. It's slow. It's sometimes difficult to test for prenatal deformities caused by pharmaceutical medicine before they actually cause them. Fortunately, pharmaceutical research has been refined since then, and most pharmaceutical drugs released on the market now have been rigorously tested for prenatal side effects. I am not close minded, I just understand that tragic cases like Thalidomide do not make modern medicine any less of a godsend than it is.

Tell me, do you know how many hundreds of thousands of deaths and HIV infections have been the result of alternative/folk medicine quacks promoting anti-vaccine movements in South Africa?
