sound help - full roomish sound

i'm trying to rip a sound from DooM and i'm using SLumpED to play the sound, i'm also using Audacity to record the sound. when i do record it, it sounds as if it was recorded in a huge room full of talk'n peaple <_<

notes of use:
i cant click on any effects for they arnt lit up
i can change the "what u hear" thing for it also isint lit up :/

If you can't use "What U Hear" aka "Wave Out Mix", you either:
A) Need a better sound card.
B) Turn off Windows Blinds, if you are using Vista.
To apply an effect, you have to select part/all of the track you are editing, higlight some with the selection tool or press Ctrl+A to select everything.

Also, try lowering the recording volume... That, and try pressing the Stop button, (yellow square lol) THEN try recording/effect application.

that still doesint really help me fix the full room sound effect. i'm using Windows XP. i attached the .wav if you want to play/edit it

Press Ctrl+P in Audacity then change the recording device to your in-computer one. Make sure you mute your mic(s) in your volume control just in case.
