SMF gives me blank screen when I try to install SimplePortal. HELP

When I try to install a mod (SimplePortal) onto my forum running SMF, I click install and It takes me to a fricken blank screen. Help :(

Try downgrading it to 1.6 or 1.1.18

obviously if you want to use simpleportal it only works on older versions, so you need to downgrade or wait for it to be updated

It's the white screen of death, pretty common problem. Generally when your webmaster gives PHP a small amount of memory to work with.
