I don't care for either side. Democrats and Republicans got us in this mess, no matter who you say started it.
1) Democrats wanted "single-payer" universal healthcare in the early 90s. Republicans said "no way".2) Leading Republicans (who were in the majority) proposed an alternative in 93, which was an "Insurance Mandate". The rank and file Republican's wouldn't go for it, never even got to the Democrats / out of committee.3) Jump 15 years later after the same amount of time with the healthcare costs ballooning and a dysfunctional system with insurance companies choosing who to cover and who to drop based solely on profit, and the Democrats introduce the REPUBLICAN plan from 93. Why? Because they compromised and knew that another stab at "single-payer" like in 93 was a certain "no-go". The REPUBLICANS said "no" ... to THEIR own idea/plan ... now that it was being introduced by Democrats and the black kenyan man with the funny sounding name in the White House.4) Jump 6 months later, and the Democrats compromised AGAIN and struck one of the two key provisions: The "Government Option" insurance provider .... because the Republicans wouldn't go for it. We did keep the mandate though (again ... this was all Dole / Republican ideas from 93).5) Jump a few months even later, and it goes to vote. Republican's STILL wouldn't go for it and we had to use special legislative processes to get it passed with majority.So ... there you have it: 20 years of Democrat compromising on "heath care reform", to include ultimately presenting THE REPUBLICAN PLAN from 93 as the least worse option (vs. nothing ... the current Republican "plan"). The Republicans have NOT compromised. They have been "holding their breath till they got what they want" for 2 decades ... and still are having a temper tantrum.While I agree that on many topics in today's political climate, both parties are guilty of politics (of their party) over policy for the common good, but in this case ... The Republican's and them alone are responsible for the shutdown ... if or when it happens.

So the Republicans caused this just because they can't agree with the democrats? How stupid can people get, its like a bunch of loving babies in the womb, they don't know anything about keeping a Country politically straight!
