Yeah that was my problem with it, and it's not like I want a google search engine on my new tab when I just use the url bar to search stuff.
I set it back to the old theme which IMO is much better (for me at least)
If anyone else is wondering how to, search chrome://flags
and disable "Enable Instant Extended API Mac, Windows, Chrome OS"

I don't like it. I'm used to opening a new tab and being greeted with my chrome apps, not the websites I frequent. Is there a way to revert it to the old way it worked?

I don't understand this update.

a) the "recently viewed" sites are now smaller and harder to see and read.
b) the apps are now linked in the upper-left corner of the browser instead of simply clicking to the right, making it more inconvenient.
c) giant "GOOGLE SEARCH" thing in the middle of the home page. This is pointless because we could always google stuff in the omnibox!

Also, I don't know if this is just me, but Chrome seems to take longer to load than before. That's just annoying.
Most chrome updates are logical and helpful improvements. This one is just... Bad. I hope they change it back.
