Author Topic: To abort or not to abort, that is the question.  (Read 3026 times)

if my future wife was carrying my child, and wanted to abort even though i wanted to keep the child, there's essentially nothing i could do and nor should there be

we can't force them to keep something growing inside of them without their consent lol

Yes there is, the child isn't related to the female any less than the male. It's 50/50 which is why both genders deserve a say. The main issue why it's fully the woman's choice in many countries is because they go through a long and painful process to make the baby and give birth. I won't deny it, but don't you think the male is going through a painful time when he impregnated a baby and the spouse wants to have it and he doesn't and the spouse ignores the male?

it comes down to maternal investment

the women should have more say in the issue because they have a much higher investment in the development and birth of the child. if men were somehow just as invested, then yeah, we should have equal say. but we're not. it's not even close to a 50/50 issue.

It's not our problem though, and we shouldn't pity people because they have to go through a lot during pregnancy. It's human nature. It is a 50/50 issue, and the baby is 50% related to the male, and 50% related to the female.

it doesn't matter who it is related to at all. what if the birth of the child was going to kill the mother? the maternal investment for her will be her life, but you're saying that because it's 50% your baby, she shouldn't be able to abort? extreme example i know, but seriously

"not our problem" lol

If you're gonna abort it I suggest you do it fast, before it can feel any pain :(

This isn't even close to correct.
The 18 years that come after the kid is born are FAR more important than the nine months before it is.
Men should have the right to give up responsibility for a kid, just like women can.

edit: I thought you said the opposite of what you said
Still, it's not fair women can force a man into a commitment like that. But the second they don't want it, they can just throw it away.

I'd abort it even if it weren't handicapped.

I think people are missing the point of this thread.

The question is;
Would you abort if you knew the child would be handicapped?

Not if you could abort a child at all.

In a serious note; I think that if I knew my child was going to live that life. I would abort him/her. In my eyes, handicapped people are not functioning humans. And if I could stop it from going through all the stuff, then I would.

why the forget did you make this topic

Aborting is forgeted up
So is forcing someone to live non-functionally

Men don't have to give birth to the baby.
