Author Topic: Why is Self Delete ever illegal?  (Read 9181 times)

It is illegal because the Government in almost every 1st world country cares deeply about their citizens. The well-being of others is a priority in almost every jurisdiction.

if you really cared about someone you would rather let them be euthanized than suffer through a debilitating disease
the only reasons for wanting them to stay alive are all selfish
Since when has a law ever stopped people from doing anything? Especially a law that doesn't affect them after they're already gone.
if you aren't successful you're forced to get medical help

I don't mean picking up a gun and killing yourself just because you're upset that you have no friends or because people call you a friend or whatever. I mean going to a doctor and having something done that will invariably kill you, and without it being painful, because you don't want to put yourself and others in a situation where you will die anyway, after paying for expensive treatments and going through extra emotional trouble

As far as I know all actual medical ways of euthanize a human put them through some amount of serious pain. A gunshot to the head is instant and therefore painless, so unless you require an open casket funeral imo it's the way to go.

I do think it's semi-ridiculous for Self Delete to be illegal, I mean it's your life anyway and the Government saves money with one less life. Self Delete is illegal but it doesn't mean that someone will go to jail if they attempt it, the most which would happen is the person going to a mental institution to be rehabilitated for their disturbances. In only very few instances the person is convicted.

Because people who want to kill themselves tend not to be completely sane. It could be someone depressed or someone with moodswings with tons of potential who would thank you for not letting them kill themselves later in life. You should not allow disabled/depressed people to hurt themselves because they don't know better at the time.

It will always get better.

I agree with you completely, there is always room for change and help. A lot of people who are suicidal can also be a threat to other individuals.

Nobody chooses to be born into this world. Life isn't a 'gift', a gift doesn't force you to have it for 60-80 years in which you may or may not be happy. Self Delete counseling and help should always be available and encouraged, but taking away a man's right to commit Self Delete is disgusting and tyrannical.

Self Delete is a man's most basic and fundamental right.

even if that was true (it isn't), a few minutes of pain at most is preferable to months or years

nobody said people go to jail for it. something being illegal doesn't mean you'll go to jail for it. and being convicted for something doesn't mean that you go to jail for it, either

did you even read the op

did you even read the op
but people who want to kill themselves are never right in the head

if you mean like, they are dying of a deadly disease then i would guess because they might get better but it is more understandable
not to mention that it's messy, scares people around you, and is probably a waste of police resources

euthanasia seems like a better option but it should still be illegal

sure, whatever you say

Self Delete is a man's most basic and fundamental right.

It is a gift if you think about it. It's about the persons approach to life, and how they live it which adds to the persons quality of living.

I know, but some people who attempt Self Delete do go to jail and honestly it's pretty irrational.

I'm not sure what the hell you're trying to say, are you calling suicidal people psychotic or what?

It sure is easy to make fun of suicidal people when you've never been there, isn't it?

He's saying that people who are suicidal aren't the sanest people. People who attempt Self Delete have reasoning, but it may not be the healthiest approach.

anyone who thinks "i would rather shoot myself because my life sucks rather than call a hotline or go to counseling because i dont care" definitely has something wrong with them at that time
