Author Topic: Government shutdown in 0 hours  (Read 20090 times)

What an ugly mess. I blame the politicians and voters incompetence. We should move to a land where you eat a plate full of pancakes for breakfast everyday, chop trees and make wood, drive cars with square tires, and combat beavers and moose.
Agreed Harm, Tired of this politics stuff thats been going on lately

i am 100% cool with a shutdown.

forget the far far to many gov employees. they can go the hell home :D

God why cant the 2 friggin parties decide. forget, the soldiers saving our asses are going unpaid
nobody is currently "saving our asses"
in fact nobody has done that for a while

soldiers dont need to be paid because we dont need to be at war (imo)

dont make this into some kind of "you dont support the troops unless you support our crony government" kind of debate.

the military is 1 tiny part of the big mess of waste.

the real issue at hand is that my brother might not be getting his air force check.

and he owes me money

plus last i checked, there hasnt been a draft. if you willfully joined the military during the last 13 years, then you are a true patriot who is doing it for our nation and you dont need or want to be paid for it. you are doing it "for our freedom" or whatever bullstuff you convinced yourself of.

you can willfully apply for any job in the US, no one is promising you it will be there forever. times are tough and jobs everywhere are laying off.
forget you and your uniform lol

even when we aren't at war, there are still jobs in the military that have to be done
and the military is far from a tiny part of our government, especially when it comes to the budget

I quote;

"I get paid more for being in the Air Force then I would If I got a job in Engineering, not even counting that I would have to burden the student loans myself"

Pretty sad that people choose military for the money isn't it?

i chose military for money

>start at E3
>$60,000 signing bonus
>$38,000/year + full benefits and no expenses
>$100,000 re-enlistment bonus at the end of 6 years

yes please

every state has a state defence force (no not the national gaurd)
mandated and its for this purpose.
state paid. the shutdown wouldnt affect this

every citizen could/should have a gun, this is what the second amendment was for. to keep out internal and external tyranny and in an affordable way. it has worked well, no other country compares in this way.

we have yet to be invaded. our wars overseas had nothing to do with that. never needed the fed military

if a person gets laid off of any other job because the company was handicapped and refused to pay its bills, then coulnt afford it at all; do you expect some free magic money to keep them afloat? like they deserve it?

the fed is no different.

pretty patriotic of you

pretty patriotic of you

the pursuit of american currency is in and of itself patriotic

the pursuit of american currency is in and of itself patriotic

I hope you haven't boiled down the purpose of living to just getting money.

Pursuing a career in something you like > In it for the money.
I think you've talked about this before... In a different topic.

It still eludes me why people will choose money over something they truly enjoy.
