So today we got a ton of snow (relatively speaking in Missouri terms). It was near whiteout conditions when I was driving to work and continued to snow for another five hours. I think we got about 5" total. I had the time of my life playing in it with my car.
When I was leaving work, my car was covered in snow and I was getting more of it on me trying to brush it off than on the ground. My parking lot at work was not plowed at all so I just drifted my car around the building several times possibly either entertaining or aggravating the customers dining inside and in the drive thru. I was hoping to shake the powdery snow off the window but I only succeeded in knocking off half of it since the lot is pretty small and I couldn't go very fast. I stopped the car to clear off the remaining snow but had ice stuck all over the windshield that I couldn't scrape off.
From there, I decided to check on the high school parking lot since they never plow it. I drove there sitting on the left side of the driver's seat to peer around the ice on the windshield. I was actually able to drift around on the less busy roads some because there were a lot of covered areas. The high school lot was fun as heck though. There were a lot of cars in the back lot so I went around the front sliding my way down the hill that goes into the lot. When I got around the final bend in the hill, I floored the gas nearly hitting redline while steering almost as far as I could. The car spun it's way down the hill ahead of the main doors of the school and I sent a wave of snow washing like a wave towards the covered sidewalk. I slalomed through the light posts in the staff parking lot and did a figure eight around two of them before scrambling out of the parking lot. Didn't want to stay too long because there were signs of people inside the school and stirring in the adjacent parking lot.
I decided I was probably done but remembered I had a recommendation from a guy at work who drifted his Grand Cherokee in a parking lot belonging to a privately owned grocery store near my house. I went over there and did a 180 around a lightpost and got a dirty look from a lady walking to her car, so I decided to take my fun to the road and tiny empty lots next to the store. There were still a few cars milling around so I waited until a gap in the activity. I kinda stopped in the street waiting for cars to go away and pulled out my tablet and took this
video, but it's very badly recorded. I stopped recording because a guy in a truck slowed down next to me and rolled his window down. I put mine up and slid my way back to the highway continuing to slide around every corner that I came across.
If the snow isn't sufficiently melted tomorrow morning, I might go out there again since I need to get gas before work. I wish I knew of a way to anchor my tablet to my windshield or something, since I don't have a smartphone.
