I hope my first car doesn't get wrecked, especially if I get the one I want (BMW E30).

I hope you have money to pay for B(reak)M(y)W(allet) level maintance costs.

My dad got his first car and then like within the first three weeks he was driving it, in the summer, to or back from the beach ( I can't remember ) when the car caught on fire.

lol. I plan to do some of the work myself, because the E30 is fairly easy to work with and I like working on mechanical stuff. Also, it's an older BMW, so it doesn't have a bunch of unnecessary stuff that could go wrong, and these cars can often go 200k + miles if taken care of properly.

Out of older cars, BMW is the worst still. An Audi S4 (b5) would be a better choice imo. Be slightly more reliable and $5k for one of good condition, a steal as well. 250hp stock, potential of 450hp to the wheels and beyond if you stage III it with APR.

Plus, AWD donuts > any other donuts.

I've heard that older turbo A4s have problems, so... And I've heard that older BMWs have fewer problems, iirc.

I'd (of course) try to get a Corvette when I buy a car.

Older turbos hands down are just problematic. Hell, turbos in general.

I hear the opposite in California, and the S4 is a biturbo 2.7 v6. the A4 had a cheaper uniturbo 1.8t setup.

o. You said S4, I read it as A4, lol.

Yeah, A4's cons outweigh the pros vs the S4.
The A4's still better than most other cars of that era.

I like my luxury, so the rattly and ugly bugeye subie rex is a no go. If it was an STI, I'd consider it if it was adult owned and 1 owner as most are trashed by kids.

Well, I do actually like the A4/S4, so we'll see. Considering I haven't saved a dime yet and I'm only 14, plans can change.

Remember to save up for proper tires.

Cars really are as good as their tires. Really should be the first mod people do besides an intake/air filter.

Screw them. It's fun to throw it sideways.

Just be sure not to get too fast, too furious.

Too soon?

I do when racing.

The keyword was "around." When you're racing, you're not "driving around." Obviously when racing you want extra safety precautions.
