New Add-ons and other types of files for Blockland are being made every day for Blockland with new players coming at least once a day, people keep asking one question which can have heaps of Answer (Where do I install my add-ons) You would assume the Blockland Directory but you would be wrong! Some add-ons people are only giving us the script file or the decal itself instead of giving us it zip/rar file where we can extract it to the Blockland Directory make it easier for us.

To sum it all up... Should add-ons have to be in a correct directory folder within a zip/rar?
Remember this could also stop add-ons/add-ons/ servers and also hopefully make it much easier for the newer players.

I think at the top of each kind of thing you install there needs to be a stickied how to install topic.

But people still would make different ones, you could say how to install but what if some one made a zip/rar with the files but not directory's.

Some people, no names, would still go out of their way to mess it up. Extracting to their add-ons folder, extracting to program files, I don't know. But people will do that.

But still, if its all the same newbie's won't mess it up and there will be less people asking for Add-on help. While it doesn't seem like a huge thing it still will fix allot of problems and make it much easier.

I like this idea.

Also could be like, an iTunes kind of thing, All Good, Approved add-ons onto some webspace and installed though a installer that installs them directly into the correct files.

But i understand somthing like this had been suggested in the past and it never happend, or wasnt do-able i dont remember and im not going to look it up.

Anyway, Like the idea Packer

I though of a great solution: run the add-ons for .zips cause it does actually work but you cant write to them

Last night, I had a weird dream, and I could search for a map ingame then DL it. Something like this would be cool and could coincide with Traders idea.

Just wait for RTB2.  Then it won't matter that much how you choose to organize your files - Your entire Add-On will run from a single .zip.

Not every newbie will have RTB2 Trader.

I've mentioned this a couple of times now - v9 will use zipped add-ons.  Installation of new add-ons will consist of "put this zip file in your add-ons folder".  The goal is to make it impossible to install add-ons incorrectly.

Will this method support custom preferences files?  If I wanted to maintain my own client / server prefs and have them save back to my .zip file, would that work?

How come I want everything from v9?
