Author Topic: I think someone is DDOSing me  (Read 3830 times)

Okay, I understand that it's like a taste of my own medicine, but I think someone is randomly launching DDOS attacks on me. I doubt it's my OS.
Sometimes I will just be working on something, and then all of a sudden, my computer would unexpectedly become slow. Sometimes so slow that I can't even close processes. If I remember correctly, closing the processes didn't really do anything.
So, what should I do? Is there a way to scan for DDOS attacks?
Specs:
-Linux mint 13
-GNOME Classic
-Gateway M-6309
-32-bit
Please don't hate on me for using a crappy computer, first of all it's a laptop, second of all I got it for free, no contests or anything.

what the forget are you even saying

Last time I checked, DDoS'ing doesn't slow down your computer as much as it cripples your network.

Do you even know what DDOSing is?

I really doubt anyone would DDOS you and that wouldn't slow down your computer's processes.

Lancelot you are beyond handicapped. DDoS attacks won't affect your actual computer and processes. it'll effect connecting to the internet

Lay off Setro, he's only entirely handicapped.

I forgot what the first D stands for

I forgot what the first D stands for
Direct

I forgot what the first D stands for

Distributed Denial of Service

A DDoS will only slow down your network, not your computer (unless you're using a virtual modem or something archaic like that).

Distributed Denial of Service (attack)

All of you hating on me, the internet says that DDOS stands for Direct Denial of Service, and it is used to, well, deny services, and pretty much lag out a computer until it is rendered useless.
