I'm sorry do you expect him to install a full water removal system in Blockland when the loving ledge is only two studs wide?

You're stuck in the boring ass design state of mind that buildings ALWAYS have to be boring and make sense design wise. It doesn't have to. A lot of structures go up just to catch people's attention. If I saw something like this I'd think it was cool. Not everything on a building has a purpose. Why put a gargoyle on it? Why have masonry on the bottom? Why have two doors when you can live with just one?

I think you need more of an open mind, Mr. Serious.

I like it a lot, I just wish there was more progress.

loving hell

i didnt expect him to put some fancy pantsy water system in. christ, it was an example of a REAL house.

what im trying to say is that the guy should aim for some practicality. its one thing for a house to look good, but its another for it to function and work well, thats all.

Realism, and Blockland never mix well... cause of guys like you that stuff bricks over a water system.

A modern house is a modern house!

Let it be god dammit, any modern house has a nemo material that can't get damage by the water and plus you said that the flat surface could damage the roof, seriously? If one side is open than the water will stream there instead. If it's covered than there will be vents. I don't know if you ever seen a modern house before, but they are real buildings and you'll see a lot later in the future!

Lets all attack Manchild for giving legitimate criticism -- a perfect example of blockland's unyielding need to invoke stagnation of building skills.

He's entirely correct. OP has not build a modern house. He has built a busy facade. Throw a bunch of boxes together, throw in some red ones, and then haphazardly throw in a curved window, and boom, you've got what Hair has built. I'm sorry, but the brickwork is not good and this does not resemble a modern house.

Modern houses have proportion, consistency, symmetry, style and contour. Nothing in the OP is consistent or proportional, you've stitched together about 5 different styles, there's no symmetry, there's no flow. Your doorway doesn't even line up. Your tiles are incorrectly rotated / placed.

If you want my advice for building a modern house: build with a grid in mind. Place the boxes in a way that is symmetrical and proportional. Don't just make it up as you go. You're going to have an extremely difficult time putting a detailed interior as it looks right now. The whole red pillar curved thing is cool but don't just jam your windows and walls into the side of it.

It's okay for an art piece, as for a modern house, it needs some serious renovating.

I really love the angled window and the amount of windows. I always love the cool window facades.
The red really goes well with the white too, remind me sort of of mirror's edge.
I also like the white plates that accent some of the windows. Really nice work

I think the only thing I don't like is how it slopes down to the front of the house with the terrain but I really think that's more opinionated.

As for what Manchild was saying, no, modern buildings don't need to be functional or practical. In fact, I did some art project on some guy who built houses such as this that performed poorly in terms of functionality. I myself prefer functionality along with such things as water, windows, clean cut lines, interesting geometric figures in the facade, etc, but they dont HAVE to be.

There are some people who see the random abstract shapes of the front exterior being far-fetched from "modern" architecture, but it's nice to see someone at least experimenting with what they can create with a wide range of bricks.

I like where It's going, nice job!
