Author Topic: Looking For Iban's CRP  (Read 5715 times)

No that's not what I'm implying, and it probably only took 1-2 minutes to code it.  I'm just saying that I thought it was curious to see that Badspot wrote to the code specifically to patch those abusive CityRPG backdoor commands.  I've never seen him do this before for something like this, only for key and game hacking exploits.
I honestly forgot about it for a while. If you look the first part of that drama thread I mentioned, I kept saying there was no reason that exploit wouldn't work. Turned out I was wrong, but the verdict was that Aoki was a bag of richards anyway so he got revoked.

It really does seem like a last resort fix, though. Idiots will merrily bypass the crap-on list despite opening themselves up to whatever their dealer feels like doing, and while those idiots deserve every misfortune that comes their way for their trouble, apparently Badspot would rather just bury the whole mess.

Still, someone can backdoor via a setup password only they know or is setup in a certain way.

i completely forgot i had access to the bitbucket for his dev  :cookieMonster:

isn't distributing it bannable?

No, I don't think it is.
Seriously though, I never played this version of CityRPG and it would be nice for someone to host it.

Not at all.

When Iban was on my server a month or two ago, he said he got bored of CityRPG and had no inspiration to continue it, and he said he didn't care if somebody else did. You should release what he has in Modification Discussion.

This is in the header for the files lol

//      Do not ever release this into general circulation.
// People have tried in the past to milk fame by doing this.
// Jookia did it first to spite me by releasing the original

//      It has NEVER worked.
// When the mod is released, I am more annoyed than aggrivated.

Oh goodness lol, maybe ask him?

Iban doesn't add Blocklanders on steam, apparently.

The backdoors on the mod actually do not work: Badspot coded the function names into Blockland and made them so they could not be overwritten by the mod. I think you can grab it from the recent Aoki drama thread. The idiot who coded it got his key deactivated so it should be safe regardless.
Backdoors in your own add-on aren't allowed?
Wasn't it private.

Evidently not; Pecon got the mod just by asking him for it.

I'd still consider it private, since it was never posted anywhere.

I would not consider it private if he was willing to hand it out to anyone who asked nicely for it, partly because that's some pretty piss-poor effort to keep it from the public, but mostly because once someone else has it, they're free to distribute it however they please, and we've seen mods spread far and wide that way before. General rule: Don't loving give people mods with backdoors.

in which pecon did exactly that?

Err, pretty big part of a backdoor exploit is that you don't tell the person you're giving it to that it's there. Maybe you didn't notice, but Pecon clearly announced the mod contained a server command to give Aoki admin status wherever he wanted.
