Make your own if you don't like them. I'm tired of these topics.

I am not an old user, but based on archives and statistics the only time when Blockland had more active players and forumers and players in-game and online was in 2010. It's gone down a little bit but I think with us going onto Steam it will start a totally new chapter for us. I wish I was here to experience the old BL.

So much this

The old Blockland was nice (Not trying to start a terrain rant). I remember the V21 Countdown clock in Badspot's Block party and the V21 Bunker builds and stuff. I've been here since V19 which I know isn't too long...but yea. Bedroom had an exploding clock, Kalpither hosted a Prepper/Renderman hunt server in Kitchen, so many map's to explore n' stuff. But I like V21 too.

On Topic: Ok, this is like the 1-4th thread I've seen about the servers. If your tired of them, make one yourself as Greek2me said.

EDIT: Yes, most forumer's from 2010-2011 are gone and there are only a few to tell the tale. I also registered into the forums in 2011 and never really posted. Then returned in 2012.

Pssh. Some people just can't wait for Defense of the Blockheads.

It seems like it's linked to two things: a couple really awesome builders going away that made awesome, versatile builds good for a bunch of different play styles (ACM, Sirrus, and Ace all come to mind right away), and the disappearance of clans.  Way back, there were major clans like USSR, and more recently, BAN and ARES (MARS attempting a revival, but it's not looking good), and those clans consistently released epic, playable builds.  There are far fewer clans hanging around the forums now, and those that are tend to show off pictures as teasers while never releasing what they've made.

There are a few good ones still around: Height releases some of their stuff, even if they are a little overprotective of their build quality, and OceanCo definitely deserves some mention, since StarHawk goes out of his way not just to make his clan's builds open, but he also goes out of his way to offer building tips and feedback to make other people's builds better, which will make them more playable.

Finally someone has referenced actual statistics. Maybe I'll actually get around to posting stats about server list histories.

Deal with it?

Make your own server. It isn't other player's responsibility to entertain you. So what if over half the servers are default builds or spam or whatever, make your own server, with hookers and blackjack.

I rarely server hop. I usually do my own thing on my own server. Blockland is more fun when you have a group of players to build with. So get some friends together or join a clan or something.

Please don't complain about the user-base or the state of the servers as of late, its not actually going to fix anything. Instead do what you can to try and improve the community, be productive.

With greenlight on it's way, blockland will get a major boost in in it's player-base so in the mean time be patient.

THE LORD HAS SPOKEN.

Jesus forget, where did you come from? I haven't seen you on the forum in ages.

Anyways, I can say blockland was a bit more active in 2008-2010, and pre-S&S, however I agree with Caribou in that steam will be a new chapter for BL, possibly a smallish revitalization of activity will occur whenever Badspot gets around to setting it up for purchase on steam.

The problem with making a good server as apposed to finding one is that you cant enjoy something you've created as much. If you already know the all ins and outs to your server, there's not much fun to be had for yourself.

Ive run into this problem with servers Ive hosted. After around the third hosting of a specific server I became bored of the idea even though new players were enjoying it. My "decent" server became boring after I built it and because of that, hasn't seen much light.

Its just a real drag when there's only a handful of players that make quality content. However, it's always been like that..

if all the servers are boring then make a fun one
