Author Topic: Why is Japan much more calm with emergencies than America?  (Read 2500 times)

After a lot of time of looking through videos and talking to friends, I want to ask this to you guys:
/title

One thing that brought this up are the Emergency Alert Systems for both of us are really different.

For example, in a nutshell:
Japan when you see the alerts on television: A emergency is currently happening in a location. Do not panic, remain calm.
However, with AMERICA and alerts: YOU'RE GOING TO DIE WAKE UP GET THE forget UP OUT OF THE HOUSE NOW EVACUATE WEE WOO WEE WOO WEE WOO

I just don't get that. We act like if emergencies like thunderstorms are going to be the end of humanity as we know it. What's the purpose of having severely loud alerts when we could have peaceful alerts like Japan?

Don't believe me? Compare this Japanese alert and this American alert and tell me the difference.

The second thing is we panic more when there are things like earthquakes and other weather hazards happen. However, in Japan, they are prepared. During March the 13th, 2011, a place in Japan had a Tsunami wall and sirens, and knew exactly what do in case of the emergency.

Why isn't America more calm like this? I think it's unnecessary to have VOL [||||||||||||||||] - 100 noises  almost causing us to crash on the highway because of an AMBER ALERT.

i think historically japan is just much more 'aware'/'used to' natural hazards than the US

I don't really see the comparison. The US one you linked didn't seem all that panicky at all and you can't even read or understand the Japanese one so what authority are you there?

Well the alerts are doing their job then. If they get your attention, then it's working

You have to also realize Japan and "America" are two different places that are not the same in a lot of ways

did you even watch godzilla?

if you think about it nihon-chan was asking for it when she got so near to earthquake-kun. when america-kun was hanging around with haiti-chan, it might of pushed nihon-chan to go into such a dangerous situation

monnde kudasai

i have no clue what i just said

i think japan is a way more calmer nation than americans anyway so their alerts wouldnt be that like "OMG WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE"

really? all the dumb black people in new Orleans knew of coming disaster. sat there. then during the disaster they sat there. then after they sat there.

when the earthquake hit in japan I seen nothing but people running for their lives.

Because Japan knows they're not fat like America is and can actually run away, unlike the fat Americans. 8D

Being calm is an emotion, not a language. What are you trying to say? You listen to the tone of voice to tell if they're panicking, trying to hold it in, or didn't give a forget. lol

Same reason they use chopsticks, same reason they drive on the other side of the road, same reason they speak a different language.
Cultural differences. That's it.

Describe an emergency in America when alerts say this.
