Author Topic: My grandpa broke a B-52  (Read 1037 times)

I went to visit my grandfather this weekend in Kansas, and he told me a story of the time he was in the Air Force and he was sitting alone in a huge hangar housing a B-52. He was bored out of his mind so he picked up a drill and started messing around with it. Eventually he thought it would be interesting to poke at the tires of this giant aircraft with that drill. He drilled straight through the tire and deflated it. It took ten servicemen and $10,000 to replace it. So just remember, whenever you think you're bored, you'll never be bored enough to pop a $10,000 airplane tire with a power drill.

kick your grandpa in the balls for me ok

The logistics officer must of flipped a table and gave the maintenance team hell that day.

My grandpa was a navy officer in WWII, in the Italian and North African theaters. He told me several stories about it while he was still alive but the one I remember the best is the one where some of the other guys in the crew got seasick and puked over the side of the ship, but they did it into the wind, so it flew right back at them.

Like a good neighbor state farm is there

What did he expect to happen?

What did he expect to happen?

Yeah, I don't understand what could have possibly been going through his mind that day to think drilling into a tire of a B-52 was a good idea.
