Jeans is the perfect choice for casual wear. They go with pretty much anything and they're attractive.

Cargo shorts, like, have pockets. That's about it. They might go well with a polo shirt and would make good camouflage in a white neighborhood.

Agreed. I never wear jeans; only khaki/cargo shorts and pants. I personally find them way more comfortable than jeans, and they are far more utilitarian.
