"Oh... hey there. I realized you had a big thing coming up and you need to rest for it. So here, I'm just going to beep constantly, until you get me new batteries."

Beep...

Beep...

Beep...

I can't reach it, plus I don't want to wake up the whole house.

the thing is by beeping it wastes even more energy so it might not be able to beep when theres a real fire because it wasted all battery life

just replace them, I would lose my mind.

I don't think that the beeping uses a considerable amount of energy...

beeping uses more energy than doing nothing

I have one of the older smoke detectors and when it's battery is low it begins screech mode

Those manufacturers sure are stupid. Why can't it silently just run out of batteries and not piss everyone off?! UGH.

i think the thing people fail to realize is that it beeps because if it doesn't, you never replace the battery and die in a fire.

um, it's a smoke detector. the sensor doesn't run on air lol

This makes no sense, how is replacing batteries going to be any louder than the already-loud beeping?

well it's a different sound
like beeping can be going on but if it's regular you'll get used to it and won't even notice after a while (unless it's like painfully loud or too common I guess). but the sounds of a person fumbling around would still wake you up

There's a problem if the sound of a fire alarm beeping doesn't immediately wake you up.

well it doesn't beep for low battery the same way it does when there's a fire
like, when mine did it, it was just a single beep like once a minute
when it's actually going off it's like constant...
