spoilers: it's windows 8, some of the most unstable stuff i've ever had the pleasure of working with
regarding your problem, acer, try just reinstalling 7 and hope your stuff's still in a retrievable format, i don't know how the 8 installer handles things

I've upgraded to 8.1 on my desktop and my laptop (stuffty dell from 2007) smoothly with no problems. Not sure what's up with your guys's.

It's the exact same thing as before, except instead of dragging your mouse right into the corner, it's just a button that goes to the start screen. Why would you want to?
