Author Topic: Is it okay to exchange recovery partitions on the forums?  (Read 1053 times)

Ok, so basically my computer cannot boot at all and I was thinking about asking someone with Windows 8 on these forums to possibly give me a recovery partition. Is that against the rules or is it fine to do that?

As long as you have a legit auth key then it's fine. Not sure where you'd get an installation disk, maybe download one from a torrent and then type in the legit auth key?

Not advocating piracy or anything here.

No, there's an option in Windows 8 where you can create a recovery partition. No piracy.

I'm missing what it is you want. If you have a legit copy of windows 8 just boot to disc and reformat.

I don't have a CD.

Idk, personally I'd think it was okay to torrent a copy of you already have a key.
I mean, I have this copy of Win7 on a flash drive that I downloaded, and I just enter the key on the bottom of my PC. I've also used it to reinstall other people's OS, so long as the key sticker is still on the case so I can activate it.

I don't want to torrent a copy, that's illegal. I can't find one, anyways.

There's raw copies that aren't cracked or w/e.
Doesn't Microsoft let you download a copy from their site anyway?

I can't find it.

EDIT: I would have to pay for it again.

torrenting is fine lol. its a great way to get stuff around. the problem is that you people always assume that torrenting = piracy. if your copy of an operating system breaks, its fine to torrent one off and use the authorization key for it. its the authorization key that costs money.

Hopefully you have the key even if you lost the CD. If you don't have a CD or a key you probably aren't trying to do this legally.

EDIT: This method requires a comp with an older windows OS. Since you can't boot the comp I hope you have a copy of an older OS you can use and then upgrade.

you can post anything here as long as its legal

torrents arent illegal, as long as it doesn't have any cracking software included in it
