And as far as I know squirrel barks wont alert deer. Not sure about any other calls. I've had plenty of squirrels around barking and making tons of noise and still saw deer.

Anybody have any experience squirrel hunting and deer hunting at the same time? I was wondering if using a squirrel call will scare off the deer.

Any suggestions on compact or youth .22s? I was thinking somewhere along the lines of one of the Henry Youth .22s or an AR-7, but I want one under $200.

I got a Ruger 10/22 carbine for about $190, great gun.

I've only fired an actual gun a few times, so I'm not very good. And that was Clay-Pidgeon shooting.

I don't think I could personally do hunting. Partly out of being too sensitive to kill things, and also probably for being a crappy shot.

I might be somewhat better using a rifle instead of a shotgun, but I would trust me to hunt my own dinner.

OT: Just got back from hunting. I shot a nice grey squirrel with my Henry AR-7. The gun is pretty accurate, but the front sight is bulkier than I would like it. Can anybody find anything on a smaller front sight? I've tried looking, but I can't find anything.

  Other than that, I shot my first bow buck! It was an 8 pointer, basket rack kinda deal. Pretty big body, so it will put a good amount of meat in the freezer!
