You have the design down but these are way too small for any kind of driving. Typical Blockhead driving is pretty wild so you will definitely want to try and go for larger baseplate sizes, unless this is what you really want. It also helps to use 2x-4x stud scale for road markings as it makes the roads more symmetrical. Yet another thing that I've found of use is to build 'layers' of roads/baseplates in general. If you start with a baseplate, build the road on it, and then add the sidewalk as a plate on top, it can be an easy way to make a tiny bit of extra horizontal room that you can use for details of various sorts.
