People who are insecure or have low self esteem admit to having that problem, for what I've seen. If I had that issue I would definitely point it out, it's not like hiding it or pretending it's not there will solve anything for me. I've never seen people who actually suffer from low self esteem go on to brag about having high self esteem unless they were mocking themselves or making an obvious joke. Everyone should have high self esteem and show it off, being in the shadow of others and constant fear of being judged for everything is no way to live a life.
