Author Topic: What is the point of ChatBots? (Poll added)  (Read 3653 times)

To be honest I can't really see the reason why they exist other than the user being lazy to type things himself, or they actually have a purpose? All the chabots I've seen are those *someoneOS turning on" which answer some questions or whatever, it's something I've been curious about lately.

I find them to be somewhat of a nuisance. Most people just use them to be funny in their own way, but it gets irritating after awhile.

Could also be laziness.

They're funny.
Some are used for scripting, too.

If you make them to "learn" how to script. Make something a little more fun like this. It was an auto dance thing. You were going to be able to set up dance moves to do. Note that I never finished that project and won't work completely. It was going to be a glorious add-on.

chatbots are a waste of chatlog space imo

they're an ass to use
like if you say "lol" they say "Hahaha... That's not funny."
it's OBNOXIOUS.

i think "Advanced Chat" actually breaks chatbots as an unintended effect

It's the loving incarnation of monstrosities. handicaps can then show off their coding skills. The joke on this is, that making a chatbot is the easiest thing ever.
If I would meet that person in real-life, I would punch him together, then cook his arms, legs, body and eat it.

I use my chatbot for debugging code, whois, and managing my server...
however, my chatbot only responds to "bot," and is essentially a utility

chatbots make me want to grab my laptop and throw it across the room
they just make me HNNNNNG

%file.writeLine("$AutoDancer::Speed = " @ $AutoDancer::Speed);
export("$Autodancer::*","filename.cs");
Easiest way is to just do $Pref::AutoDancer::Speed instead.

I wrote that last year. It was just an example of doing something other than a chatbot.

Chatbots are for fun and can do helpful commands.
Mine can calculate numbers, turn on rainbow player for me, do eval, talk on it's own, and more.
