Author Topic: Trade RC car for HTC One X (Opinions?).  (Read 1498 times)

I'm selling a used RC car for $100 on Craigslist. So today I get an email, asking if I want to trade it for an HTC One X in good condition. What do you guys think? It would probably be an upgrade from my iPod 4, (I wouldn't be using it as a phone) and if I decided to sell it, I could probably sell it for ~$200, right?

I say you do it, those things are the stuff.

a used One X would probably be like $150 at most

IMO $200 is wishful thinking. Probably $80-$130 after some time. How much memory does your iPod have? I mean if you're going to use it as an iPod, I think it would be cool considering you could do a stuff-ton more to it. Also you could just slap an sd card into the phone for more space where as you cannot with an iPod.

I saw one in pristeen condition on eBay for 250 and one for 330.

I have 8 gigs on my iPod.

Do it, Then put your iPod up for sale.

From a quick search online, the phone is selling for $300-400 brand new unlocked. It would make sense for a pristeen condition one to be just a bit less than a brand new one. You said it's not pristeen though, it's
in good condition

That being said, it was released in may of last year. My Galaxy Note 2 was released at the end of last year. It sells for $500-600 brand new unlocked. Phones don't resell well, especially after they have been used or aren't a flagship phone anymore. Now, mine is worth about $175-200. The HTC One X would be worth less than mine, like Nickelob said $150 at MOST. Even less if you expect to use it as an iPod for a while and sell it like next year. Just trying to help you and prevent you from trading it thinking you'd make a couple hundred bucks off it.

This. You're selling an RC car for an upgraded iPod touch basically. From there you don't need your iPod anymore so you can sell it if you want and get cash. Now you have cash and an upgraded iPod.

why do you need an htc one if you are not going to be using as what is was intended for
hint hint being a phone
might as well keep the ipod

You do realize that old phones eventually become obsolete and not used what they were intended for right?  An HTC One X is one hell of a deal from an iPod touch 4th gen.  If I were you OP I would take the deal because maybe some day you could put a SIM card into the phone via T-Mobile and actually use it.

by the time that "one day" comes his HTC one will probably be old news anyways
like what are the major pros of an HTC versus an ipod if you aren't calling or anything
you can still play the same games, do the same stuff pretty much
the more reasonable thing to do is just save up the money until you really need a phone and buy the newest gen

Why wouldnt you use it as a phone?

I have no phone right now, especially not a smartphone. We just have a shared phone for outings for the kids in our family.

Anyway, I think imma do it, but make te final call after I've slept on it. I dont wanna make any rash decisions.

yeah, that'd be new condition.  yours would have traded hands twice basically.  would be worth $150 at best if you're lucky.

why would you want a stuffty rc car anyways, as opposed to a loving phone. unless its a scam in which case lol
