Author Topic: Hammereditor attacks RTB servers - The discussion thread  (Read 66819 times)

Before addressing your comment: OUR traditions? I've been on these forums for almost three years, are you seriously going to speak on behalf of anywhere from 100 to 10,000 people?

I typically try and avoid drama since it's the only place I ever get banned in.
I don't have anything against drama. I think it's a great way to point out trolls/abusive admins
I DON'T think that it should be used to fill 12 pages with "LOLOL OP is so rite, dis gui is gaye, will ban, 10/9 drama OP, keep up d gud work"
5 Years here since the 3 digits were a the majority. All good dramas are made as the result of a member who is known for not being liked within the community. Next that member either makes an idiot of themselves or in some cases Badspot or someone else comes out with evidence to prove his case and that person no one likes gets banned and then returns a few months later to repeat the cycle.

Drama has always been the way it's been, there is nothing you can do to change that by going "oh this isn't necessary". I see that as thread dismissal.

We can narrow it down to 3 things:
  • I did
  • Pacnet
  • Malware on my computer
or maybe
the ddos never actually happened

someone can turn this topic into a short story
maybe a phoenix wright kind of thing

Its hard to believe hammer downloaded malware that dos's rtb servers lol
Maybe the malware DDoS's any server that hammer interacts with in any way?

and he is back
Don't start. Keep it intellectual.

This has been bothering me, and maybe I'm just not understanding this, but is it at all possible that there could be malware on Ephi's computer that was in some way related to the DoS, and then Ephi may have just reasoned that it was hammer?

I'll begin writing your drama for existing then, because by that logic every drama is necessary and therefor anyone can be drama'd for anything. Unless I've interpreted what you've said wrongly, in which case pardon my lack of understanding.

looking at the posts in this topic now, im betting it was a malware from somewhere

Good luck with that.

Lol screw you guys. Malware doesn't just install itself and target insignificant hosting services for lego games, and if someone intentionally built malware to take down RTB and then magically got porkeditor to download and install it without him remembering then I'd call that a goddamn triumph and they should step forward and take a bow.

Really I think it's cute you guys are trying to explain this using patchy knowledge of the internet and throwing buzzwords like ddos and malware around but truly you're talking bullstuff. It was either porkeditor or pacnet and I don't care which.

There was no malware, that's a downright ridiculous argument and the fact that porkeditor is even trying to play it off as a legitimate excuse either speaks volumes about his genuine incompetence or makes him look even more suspect.

Lol screw you guys.
Ephi, c'mon now, that's really NOT the best way to go about arguing your point.

Holy stuff are you serious people still think malware has anything to do with this

Ephi's point doesn't need to be argued. He's entirely correct. The "malware" would have to be specifically written to target RTB. Seriously? You guys really think that someone went and programmed up some malware to DoS RTB?

I'll save you the effort. Nobody wrote malware to attack RTB. Hammereditor is pulling that out of his ass.

Agreed.
But yeah, malware seems like a distant possibility to me.
We're down to Hammereditor and Pacnet being the culprits.
It would be around 2-4 PM his time (ephi's logs didn't include a timestamp), so either one of them could have done it.

i'm sure there'd be someone clever/idiotic enough to make a virus to target rtb

So if somebody tricked me into installing malware, which attacked the RTB websites, you call that a 'triumph'? Do you like it when I get framed for something?

Apparently, you banned me without hard evidence that I was the attacker and not Pacnet.
I think I was banned just out of anger. How do you know who the hacker was?

The attack came from my home network, not the HamHost VPS.
