Apparently there are these guys on YouTube who are randomly doing good deeds, e.g. giving $100 to homeless people, paying for people's meals in a drive-thru and tipping a waitress $200. Watching these videos has made me smile immensely and it's great watching these people's reactions.

You can find the channel here: http://www.youtube.com/user/GiveBackFilms

I love these because the homeless black people are funi :D.

Tipping a waitress $200 is nice, but giving a homeless guy $100 is just stupid.

Never give money to homeless people. They are homeless for a reason, and will just buy more of whatever their drug of choice is. Give them food if you want to be charitable.

Since they're posting it on youtube i kind of doubt they're doing it out of genorosity, its still nice though

And all that homeless guy is going to do is buy weed so yeah

I only partially agree with you; some homeless people may have been let off by their jobs due to a stuffty economy or a company crash, among other reasons that may have not been their fault.

To be fair, I haven't actually watched the video about the homeless people, but you still can't really tell someone's past regardless solely through their appearance.

we don't really have homeless people that aren't junkies because our economy is still going strong

Many homeless people are homeless because they lost their jobs too, all sorts of reasons. It's not always the persons fault, someone has to help the homeless one way or another. Any human can change and have a vision or have an epiphany out of nowhere. A lot of homeless never even touched drugs before, many have though. If you see a homeless lady who was a drug addict but had 3 kids just laying there without food, wouldn't you be determined to at least give them a dollar, or two or even food?

Yes, directly buying the homeless people the food/clothing is actually the best thing to do.

I don't want the 100 bucks to be their crack money.

exactly. so how will you know? that's why i use it as a blanket rule. junkies can't be trusted, so you don't know why anyone is homeless.

Did they give them $100 cash or giftcard?

Ive seen some give giftcards

Made me smile.
If only the entire world was like this.

It depends on the circumstance of the person. Some people are so desperate, and they have nothing and get so depressed and then on the verge of mentally ill - so they turn to using substances. It's not the best of choices, but it is what happens. A junkie can be anyone, regardless of what drugs they're using including marijuana.

pretty much 90% of people who live on the street ended up that way because of drugs
giving money to someone like that is ridiculous, you'll hurt them even more as theyll just buy more drugs
giving them food is more reasonable
