not sure if it would go with the colour of floor i want, or if i'd have to go darker

is that floor photoshopped in?
i think it might be the angle of the planks of wood but for some reason it seems a little strange

edit:
nevermind that pretty much answers my question

i dont think it looks bad, but i'm still not sure about the cream color. I'm sort of wondering if that would match the terracotta for the block wall

yeah it is. very rough job just to get a visual idea of what it'd be like

A grey could also work.

Edit:I kinda like the green.

There's no point in waiting, make the topic!

Left for block wall, right for the rest of the room

It's a pretty cold white but I think the terracotta will warm everything up, especially with a few well placed matching features

All the building in blockland really paid off hasn't it?

 :cookieMonster:

Yeah, that'd be the only setback. You could also go for tile?

You know, there's some pretty cheap faux-hardwood veneering that looks really nice. That could be an option.

Ok, my opinion is that if you want a modern look, go with a light floor (like you showed), along with either a light grey wall or white wall. Use brushed aluminium for the trim and the bar. For light fixtures, I suppose the ones you suggested would be alright, but I think a large, square version of this would be cool.
If you do white walls, I think a silvery/grayish curtain would look nice, or if you do grey walls, a grey curtain/dark grey curtain would look good.
Use some nice modern shelves to make it so it doesn't feel like it has boring walls too.

what do you mean the "trim and bar"? (edit, skirting board and cornice? never seen someone do them like that)

and yeah those lights would be good, i'm just lazy so i dont want to have to fill/create new holes in the ceiling lol.

and i'm definitely getting some sort of cool shelving like that. i'll also have floating shelves like this all over the place

I might have a couple of white ones on the terracotta feature wall, just to break up the colour a bit

Yes on the skirting board, no on the cornice. I was talking about the counter for the bar area, but I take that back. It would not look good. Really, if possible, do no skirting board, but sometimes it leaves to big of a gap between the floor and the walls.

yeah the skirting is near essential, especially if i go with floating floors because you need to leave like a cm-2cm gap around all edges for expansion

i do like the look of the chrome finished skirting, so that might look good if i go with a bunch of other chrome fixtures

Yeah, something like this looks cool, but would probs be a lot of work.

i definitely couldn't get it flush with the wall like that

i might have to go with a traditional skirting board anyway because i can't really have chrome skirting and then normal architrave around the doors and windows, can i? (genuine question, i have no idea)

Hmm... Yah, it probably wouldn't look great. If you do decide to go the traditional route, go with some sort of simple board, not some fancy intricate design.
