The article is saying people are so distracted by angry birds and twitter that they couldn't notice a gun behing pointed at them. It has nothing to do with "being a hero"

Yeah sort of like what I thought. To me it felt like these "people" where using there phone way to much and then they don't notice a guy behind them waving a gun around until he finally shoots someone.
