Author Topic: One of my cats passed away tonight.  (Read 3609 times)

Tonight my mother rushed in and told me that one of my cats, Kaito, was dying. I rushed to see what was up and apparently he had thrown up numerous times; first being his food, second some water, then when he had nothing else, stomach acid. He previously had stomach issues that nearly killed him because he couldn't eat for days but he fought for his life when we were considering having him put to sleep because he started to take a drink of water and later on managed to make a full recovery. Well, his stomach, by our assumption, was probably defective which was what caused his death.

The vet couldn't find anything when we last took him when he was previously sick. So, scientifically, the cause of death is unknown. Anyway, I rushed to find a vet after we decided to try and get some emergency help, but failed to find a number in time because by the time we did, it was too late. I pet him while my dad held him, his eyes were unresponsive, fully opened, and then he made that one reflex that I forgot the name of that an animal has before they die.

His heartbeat and breathing stopped and he was gone. Had we known that his vomiting was abnormal (well, I wasn't even there to see it, so we, as in my parents), we probably could have saved him. His final sequence in death begun immediately and he passed shortly after it began. It was pretty heartbreaking to watch and I'm mad that he managed to live through a previous near-death experience but ended up dying anyway at the age of three years.

No, this topic isn't for attention. I just want him to be acknowledged because I adore this cat and I will miss him dearly.

May he rest in peace.

He was a beautiful cat; a Maine Coon. I'm sure you'd like to see him, so here is a photo of him:

This is extremely heartbreaking, I'm not a cat person but to watch your pet detiriorate is horrible. Was it possible that your cat had a tumor?

Nah man, like I said in the OP, they checked in out at the vet and couldn't find any problems. He most likely had a birth defect which caused his stomach to grow abnormally which eventually failed him. At first I assumed it was something he ate, given that the death was so suddenly and violent, but that wasn't the case it seems.

I'm mad at biology for not making any sense. lol

I would be really sad if my cats died :( One of my cats I've had for all my life (I'm 12 years and 9 months old or so) and the other I got when I was 4 years old

Sorry for your loss :"(

I feel sorry for ya dude, I experienced this once to.

i feel sorry for you. i lost my dog two weeks or so ago due to her sickness. but she was 13 years old.

When I was 1, we lost a cat at five years old to a blockage. Even worse, my mom's first dog had died two weeks earlier.

Aw man, I know what it's like to lose a close pet. I'm sorry.

I wish I had a cute animal

That is a very pretty cat
Agreed.

Seems like there's been a lot of pet deaths on the forums recently.
