It's Rememberance Day in the Commonwealth too.
In the UK we always continue school during it, as its neither a school holiday nor Bank Holiday.
We still follow tradition in our 2 minutes silence though. Although I am quite upset with my college which pays no attention to it and also none to the poppy appeal either.

It started as a thing like 10 years ago where they would rotate different cultural and religious holidays every year except they started with Jewish holidays and never switched.
