Author Topic: What makes good outer space horror games these days?  (Read 1897 times)

What could make a great horror game in outer space, as in what things does it need.

1. infinite ammo
2. cover-based shooting
3. regenerating health bars
4. lots of jump scares and loud noises
5. spooky monsters

You didn't need to be so graphic, I've wet myself already :(

Atmosphere. Very rare guns + ammunition or weapons. The feeling of isolation. Less jump scares, more creepy scares.

so far Routine looks forgetin cool

I'd say the near opposite. Being defenseless is very important in actual horror, as it adds to the threat of what ever is trying to kill you. The most you should give the protagonist is either a mediocre pistol with little ammo, or a melee weapon. It should also be effective on very few monsters, as the game would turn from horror to FPS very quickly. Regenerating health is OK, but it should not be overpowered. And, personally, I think jump scares should be used sparingly, but I know not everyone likes subtle horror, so it's really up to you.

Excuse me for not picking up on your sarcasm immediately. What if the OP didn't catch it, either?

I didn't see it was Stocking. I'm still used to her old avatar.

I don't think you can trust his information. Seems a bit far-fetched to me...

make it however you want bc who cares what other people think, if you like it then it's perfect

I was thinking of the same thing, I don't like horror FPS's so much for example dead space. But I don't think anything against you should be able to die (of course with an exception for and ending).
