Author Topic: My mic is picking up and playing back audio for no reason  (Read 601 times)

I always thought that I was just hearing things, but apparently my mic is actually doing something I don't think it's supposed to

In control panel, 'listen' is unchecked, but for some reason when I get really close to the mic or talk really loudly into it, it still plays back some audio through my speakers. I never realized it was actually doing this until I started playing music and it rang because of the feedback.

Turning my speakers up very high, I can talk into my mic and hear everything I'm saying being sent right back at me louder, as if I have 'listen' enabled. But it only seems to do that if I talk RIGHT into the mic or if I something is being really loud. Otherwise it seems to act normal
What's going awwwn

Probably your echo reduction trying to catch up to the change in volume or whatever. Get some headphones, gets rid of the problem immediately.

I normally use headphones, for the most part, yeah, that fixes it. But I do still hear my voice playing through the headphones occasionally, though it's not nearly as bad

If its on skype
disable this

make sure microphone boost is all the way down (I have it high because my mic sucks)

turn the 20db thing to 0 and leave the microphone at 100

Tried this- I know it's not skype now at least, since it didn't change much

Although I do have the boost up, since my mich is kinda crummy too, but turning that down and the mic up just made the playback quieter

I recorded this with stereo mix as the input, 'listen' is still off, so at least I know that it's playing into the stereo mix instead of skype or something.
But on the bright side, this is suprisingly good quality audio compared to when I use it normally. There's like- no noise. ._.

it sounds fine to me

That's the point though- it's not supposed to be recording any noise at all. 'listen' is off and I'm recording with stereo mix, not with my microphone

I guess I can ignore it, but it kind of bothers me that it's doing that, lol
