 | In Steven Universe, the world is protected from evil threats by the Crystal Gems, a group of intergalactic female warriors who use the power of special gem stones embedded on their bodies to summon magical weapons. Joining the cool-headed Garnet, the laid back Amethyst, and the gentle Pearl, is the unlikely fourth member of the team; the eponymous Steven, a young boy who inherited a gem stone from his mother, a Crystal Gem named Rose Quartz. As Steven tries to figure out the secrets to using his gem, he spends his days in Beach City doing activities with the other Crystal Gems, whether it's helping them save the universe or just hanging out. |

Members of the Crystal Gems
 | Steven Universe (voiced by Zach Callison) – The main protagonist, titular character, the youngest member of the Crystal Gems, and the only male on the team; his gem stone is a rose quartz that he inherited from his mother, Rose Quartz. His gem, curiously embedded on his bellybutton, summons a shield that also acts as a projectile, but he has yet to determine how to properly activate it at will. He is also musically "talented" on the ukulele and eager to prove his abilities to the Crystal Gems. He is looked after by the 3 Crystal Gem warriors as though they were his older sisters or parents. They live together in what appears to be a half suburban house/half magic crystal palace. |
 | Garnet (voiced by Estelle) – A strong and disciplined warrior, Garnet is the unofficial leader of the group; her gem stone is a red garnet which is embedded into each of her hands. Activating her gem stones summons a pair of golden gauntlets of power. She has a calm and collected personality. She is physically the strongest member and is a mentor to Steven, though she hardly speaks more than a few words at a time. |
 | Amethyst (voiced by Michaela Dietz) – The "wild child" of the Gems; her gem stone is an amethyst which is embedded in her chest. Activating her gem stone summons an energy whip. Amethyst is very joyous and carefree, as evidenced by her sleeping and eating even though her body doesn't need to. She loves to roughhouse with Steven and trade jokes. |
 | Pearl (voiced by Deedee Magno) – A perfectionist and intellectual strategist, Pearl is the mental powerhouse of the Gems; her gem stone is a pearl which is embedded in her forehead. Activating her gem stone summons a teal-colored spear. Though physically dainty given her ballerina persona, she is the most outspoken of the three Crystal Gem members. She cares deeply for Steven's safety, but occasionally pokes fun of his antics. She strives for structure and logic and gets easily flustered when things don’t go as planned. |
| Rose Quartz – A former member of the Crystal Gems and Steven's mother. She was the leader of the Crystal Gems before Steven was born. When Steven was born her gem was given to him and her physical form, lost. Not much is known about her, but the fact that she is no longer able to lead the Crystal Gems and that she was Steven's mother. |

| Greg Universe (voiced by Tom Scharpling) – Steven's father, who was at one point in a relationship with Steven's mother, another Crystal Gem called Rose Quartz. Formerly a one-man rock band with a short-lived music career, Greg currently lives in his van and runs a car wash in Beach City. |
| Lars (voiced by Matthew Moy) – A teenage worker at "The Big Donut" shop; he often picks on Steven for being a Crystal Gem member, although he might just be jealous that Steven gets to hang out with "a bunch of hot girls". |
| Sadie (voiced by Kate Micucci) – A clerk at "The Big Donut", who shares the same shift as Lars. Unlike Lars, she is generally friendly towards Steven and supportive of his adventures. |

| "Steven Universe" - Upon returning from an intergalactic mission, the Crystal Gems; Garnet, Amethyst and Pearl, return home with a mysterious magical hourglass. Steven Universe, the sole male member of the Crystal Gems, gets his hands on the device and discovers it has the ability to let him travel back in time in order to make snappy comebacks. However, his actions soon bring about a deadly adversary, with everyone's lives dependent on Steven being able to make a worthwhile come back. |
| "Gem Glow" - Steven becomes depressed when his favorite brand of ice-cream sandwich, Cookie Cat, has been taken off the market. He soon cheers up when the Crystal Gems manage to get a hold of some of the last remaining Cookie Cats, which Steven believes may hold the key to activating his gem. |
| "Laser Light Cannon" - When a menacing red eye threatens to destroy Beach City, the only thing that could possibly destroy it is a Laser Light Cannon, which once belonged to Steven's mother, Rose Quartz. Thus, Steven enlists the help of his father, Greg, and searches through his storage in order to find the cannon. |
| "Cheeseburger Backpack" - The Gems are on a mission to place a Moon Goddess statue on top of the ruined Lunar Sea Spire, and Steven tries to prove he can useful with a help of a novelty cheeseburger backpack. |
| "Together Breakfast" - Steven's attempt to get the Crystal Gems to share his special breakfast tradition lands him in the Crystal Gems' Temple. |
