Author Topic: Microsoft is frustrating  (Read 778 times)

So my aunt teaches at a college, so she can often get my family awesome discounts on software, so I was going to have her get the Windows 8.1 Pro for me for just $69.99. Awesome, right? Well, after she couldn't get her account verified as a student/teacher account, she called Microsoft. They got her account set up properly, blah blah blah. So she buys the download, and we then figure out that you have to have a version of Windows installed to do the upgrade, so she calls them again, returns the item, and then finds out that in order to do the download, you have to have Windows 7 installed.

Come on Microsoft, do you want people to purchase your OS? Cause if so, you might want to make it so that anybody can install it, not just people who have Windows 7.

You're just realizing that Microsoft can be stuff sometimes?

Why the hell do you think it's called an upgrade, you can't upgrade something you don't have.

Kinda, my family never has really had any issues with them, except the fact that Office doesn't come with Windows. We don't have xboxes, my mom and brother both use Mac, and my dad has a windows 7 computer that, other than disliking the actual OS, he hasn't had any issues with the software side of things.

I am the only one in my family that uses microsoft except my mom has one that is xp and super slow.
My dad uses apple.
We've never really had a problem with them, we own an xbox. Never really used it, though.

i hate mac os

and its a loving 8.1 upgrade, if you want 8.1 without a previous windows OS just buy windows 8 and you can upgrade to 8.1 for free

Ok, she got the wrong thing, returned it, and then they said that you couldn't get it unless you had Windows 7. The thing that I actually wanted, (which she was going to get after she got it) did not have the word Upgrade in the title. Ok, so sure, I should have looked a little harder, but they didn't make it very clear how the whole process works. They even said you could DL an .ISO file, which I could install from there.

So in otherwords, it's just very confusing the way they stated it.

They might as well make the upgrade free, at least Apple allows you to upgrade your OS for free of charge, especially with Mavericks.

you mean only with mavericks
yes apple upgrades are cheaper, but weren't there like many dozens of them?
plus upgrading from windows 8 to 8.1 is free

Other ones were too. Upgrading from Windows 8 to 8.1 isn't an upgrade, all you get is a start button which should of been implemented long ago.

You are such a moron.

aside from 3D printing support, all of those are either crap or should have been included in the first place.
