This thread is directed at Fundamentalism and Creationism, not many modern day religious groups.


IDEA: instead of posting some damn Fedora like a bandwagon idiot, try posting something that actually makes sense
Don't cry about how: "FLAME WARS ARE INCOMING" rather, don't start them in the first place. Intelligent people like the ones here can usually discuss something without getting heated over it.

First of all: I am an atheist. The logic I use here is assuming that everything in the Bible is true and literal, though.


fun·da·men·tal·ism

a form of a religion, especially Islam or Protestant Christianity, that upholds belief in the strict, literal interpretation of scripture.

So it means to take the Bible literally. In every way. By doing so you agree that:
1. The Sun revolves around the Earth.
2. The world is about 10000 years old.
3. Eating shellfish or wearing mixed fibers will make you go to hell.
This also means to follow strictly by:

Deut. 23:1

No man whose testicles have been crushed or whose organ has been cut off may become a member of the Assembly of God.

Leviticus 24:16

Whoever utters the name of the Lord must be put to death. The whole community must stone him, whether alien or native. If he utters the name, he must be put to death.

Genesis 38:9

Onan knew that the offspring would not be his; so when he went in to his brother’s wife, he wasted his seed on the ground in order not to give offspring to his brother. But what he did was displeasing in the sight of the LORD; so He took his life also.


Genesis 19:8

“Look, I have two daughters, virgins both of them. Let me bring them out to you and you could do what you like with them. But do nothing to these men because they have come under the shelter of my roof.”


Genesis 16:8

And he said “Hagar, Sarai’s slave girl, where have you come from and where are you going?” She answered, “I’m running away from Sarai, my mistress.” The angel of the Lord said to her, “Go back to your mistress and submit to ill treatment at her hands.”


Deut. 25:11

When two men are fighting and the wife of one of them intervenes to drag her husband clear of his opponent, if she puts out her hand and catches hold of the man by his privates, you must cut off her hand and show her no mercy.


Kings 2:23

some youths came from the city and mocked him, and said to him, “Go up, you bald head! Go up, you bald head!” So he turned around and looked at them, and pronounced a curse on them in the name of the Lord. And two female bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the youths.

The problem is that they don't. 99.9% of Fundamentalists pick out a few crazy verses to follow, and ignore 80% of them. It would at least be understandable if they followed them completely, but they don't.

They eat shrimp, wear mixed fibers, and don't murder people of other religions. (usually)

Answering some Questions:

This thread offends me!
That's not a question. Religion is not some secretive object that should never be shown in public. It's fascinating, and people should talk about it. People get offended over many things, politics, beliefs, and religions, this is part of life. Everything is offensive when looked at from a non sugar-coated point of view.

Instead of posting that the thread is offensive, why don't you try to logically explain why you don't agree with it. It's much more persuasive.

Creationists are usually Fundamental, and both are horrible practices. They both takes things literally when they should worry less about rules and getting into "Heaven" and more about being good people.

also, Why do you love this "God" guy anyway, assuming he's real?

God is not a nice person. He kills a man and his wife for the sole purpose of "he was displeasing in the sight of the LORD". He assumes that since not enough people believe in him, he should FLOOD THE EARTH AND KILL TENS OF MILLIONS OF PEOPLE.

Also, by the Bible's logic, God has a set plan for every human being that he fulfills. So every time a relative dies, you stub your toe, or your pet dies, ITS ALL PART OF THE PLAN.


Not to mention the entire Hell scenario. Supposedly, we are sent down to Earth in order to be tested, to see if we may enter Heaven or not, but "God" creates us this way, and plans out our lives.

So he makes it so that we question him, he makes it so that 80% of the world will follow the wrong religion, and he sets up the scenarios that will cause us to go to Hell. It's sadistic. He could've at least given us a little bit of evidence to help us decide.


God has about 32 million confirmed kills in the Bible. The Devil has about 6, and this is god's side of the story.
