Author Topic: why do people seem to ignore Thanksgiving?  (Read 1376 times)

so half of my local town's neighbors have already put up Christmas decorations since loving November 14th.

really sorry for being butthurt about this, but why do people seem to ignore Thanksgiving and go right into Christmas? the only place i know so far where people think Thanksgiving actually exists is my school district with it's annual Thanksgiving Dinner special at the cafeteria. i honestly think Thanksgiving's a great time of year, not something to be forgotten for more popular holidays.

again, sorry for overreacting about a holiday, but im really stumped about this. maybe im missing something here?

Christmas is a much bigger holiday. That's just how it works. When you think of the cold and snow, you don't think of Thanksgiving, you think of Christmas.

we dont even have thanksgiving

it sounds kind of boring

I lik pumpkin pie tho ;ccc

Because the moment Thanksgiving ends, Christmas music/decorations are everywhere.
Just look at a local store.

i've expressed my hate for that type of stuff a few times already, but I feel like getting ready for Christmas before Thanksgiving is even over kind of ruins the fun of both holidays (a little). By the time Christmas comes around a lot of people have been doing Christmas stuff for like 2 months already and it just wears on you.

I don't want to listen to deck the halls for that long damn it.

stuff
I agree completely, it's always bothered me that christmas songs and decorations come before thanksgiving is even over. Christmas songs loving blow anyways, why would I want to hear them for two months instead of one?

the walmart near me were selling christmas decorations and trees before halloween.

What are you talking about brother
I don't school for the next week on behalf of tha thanksgivinizzle

When I was a kid you started seeing Christmas stuff a few weeks after Thanksgiving, but now it seems like they doing Christmas commercials well into October.

Also some groups like the Native Americans ignore the holiday because the holiday was meant to remember when the native's and white Puritans. However the Puritans ended up attacking the Native tribes in the area because they didn't want to convert to Christianity. Later on when the Holiday was made a national holiday by Abraham Lincoln, there had been a history of violence between the US Government and the Native Tribes.

A lot of younger people, and newly-immigrated minorities tend to ignore it. Thanksgiving is a traditional American holiday, same with Canada's version. I think it is a beautiful holiday.
