Author Topic: Neighbors stealing my Wi-Fi.  (Read 3706 times)

So I was lagging really bad in game so I checked my traffic manager on my router and realized all my bandwidth was being used. So I look on who's connected, which should only be about 5 devices, my computer, parents computers, and our iOS and Android devices. Well I noticed 2 computers that should not be there, they hid their computer names so all I saw was MAC Addresses which did not belong to any of our devices, and noticed those two are the ones taking up 90% of my bandwidth. So I changed my password to a totally random mixed case 10 digit passcode and hid my SSID.

Is there any other security measures I can take to prevent this from happening again?

Current Security

10 Digit Password, WPA2 Personal.
Hidden SSID.

My router. ASUS RT-AC66U Dual-Band Wireless-AC1750 Gigabit Router IEEE 802.11ac, IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n, IEEE 802.3/3u/3ab

he's talking about me.

OT: We'll it looks like your problem is solved

Turn on wireless MAC address filtering. Allow only the addresses you list. I'm doing this with my insecure WEP access point.

Not exactly. If they cracked my password before then i'm sure they can do it again. Also I use WPA2 Personal.

I have on my phone that lets me remove people from networks.
Though I am not quite sure if I should post it considering it might be illegal (it tends to warn you about it alot).

If I were you, I'd ask the neighbors what WiFi network they are currency using.

I don't know if this was nessessary, but you should report them to the cops.

Because if they can get your WiFi password they are possibly hacking.

Confront them.
My WiFi stretches about 7 house radius because this router is so damn strong. There's about 16 houses I would have to confront.
