Author Topic: On a scale of 1 to 100, how satisfied are you with blockland?  (Read 10596 times)

In all honesty this is the best $20 I have ever spent.  I have put about half of my entire gaming career into this one game.  The best gaming experiences I have ever had have been in this game, and I feel it has much more to offer.  I believe I have had this game for about five years now and even though I have not been playing much lately, I think that the best times I will have in this game are yet to come.  It really feels more like I have bought a super cheap gaming console and not just a game.  100/100.

40/100

The v21 update is useless to me, shaders don't even work on Macs!
sure, blame the game, not your stuffty OS

95/100

Pretty much the only game I've continued playing since I bought it. But could be more refined.

Maps don't matter to me:
The scrapping of maps really didn't change BL for me at all. I always stuck to the game's key feature, building. It doesn't matter if it is on an island or in a bedroom, I just like to build things out of virtual bricks. Now that there are no maps I have to build more and to me that creates more fun.

Now if the update was coupled with a raised brick limit, I think less people would have complained. But hardly anyone actually reaches brick limit in the first place. I frankly see maps as an excuse not to build, and I think now that they are gone there has been a renewed interest in actually using Blockland to build awesome stuff.

I don't think the operating system has anything to do with graphics drivers as far as I know, perhaps if he listed his System Specifications (and if you don't hate on the guy's preference) someone could help.

75/100.
Games fun but servers aren't as unique as they were and there is a badmin problem, oh and Bedroom was a selling point. I'll miss you, ya low-res polygonal mesh! Dx

When I actually played 9/10
Hostility in the community kept me away for a bit

Now 4/10. Don't play much just with friends occasionally. Never use shaders but I don't miss the maps much either. Just got caught up in a lot of other things

Everything before v21 - 98/100
Present day - 85/100

The reason there's a drop in that part is because;

A. I can't run shaders above minimum before crashing
B. Most servers have lost quality
C. Most of my friends disappeared after it came out :c

Hm. That's a pretty deep question, seeming that I've had this game for awhile. Pssssshfffdffgg...
I give it a 75/100 I would of gave it a 98 but they sacrificed a whole mapping community for meaningless shaders. But that's just my opinion. Also, servers have gone to stuff, and players seem to age in the opposite direction.

Edit:
I agree with Deception, all my friends from way back when quit.

Something doesn't have to be perfect to enjoy it. They're just saying that there's a lot of room for improvement.

YEA! Thats what I said too! I wouldn't mind losing shaders tho for maps :P, I can't even run shaders

So you expect someone to buy $300+ to play a $20 game to get better quality... In this economy, that's a joke there, Hah!

100/100
The best $20 I ever spent

70/100
the only 2 downsides is the starfish portion of the community, and because of the switch to shaders
shaders are completely fine im fine with that
But maps just gave the game a very seperate feel from other games
and thats the feeling that made it unique
i looked at mike's house in v20
i got drained in nostalgia.
when blockland gets onto steam i'd give the game a 100/100, because theres going to be more servers, etc.

30/100 or 40/100 at least

windows costs $300? lol youre a sack of lying stuff

This game should not have voice chat because of the age range (TF2, Gmod, and pretty much most other Source games would be rated T/M, but people ignore ratings), because it is a strain on the server, and because of its large trolling potential.

This trades off with the fact that this game isn't resource-demanding, and the fact that the server AND the client can easily be modded.

The server browser is very convenient.

The server program is extremely efficient and the client-server relationship is secure. You could probably host 12-16 players on a Pentium with enough RAM.

There are no terrain tools for GSF Ghost's modular terrain bricks. (I might code some, though)

The moderation team has very low amounts of corruption and does a great job at handling problems, but they have a late response time.

Badspot is probably one of the smartest admins I've ever seen.
