quite a snazzy looking corvette, what are the stats?

I'm working on getting it installed now.

If the fight on saturday goes well, I'd be willing to stay on the server maybe... I've always loved the idea of making an artillery-type ship. I don't know how practical that is, but Ive always thought that anything that's artillery based is as bad-ass as it gets.
And I've got a mini-empires version of what I'd wanna make, and oddly enough it's close to the color-scheme of your faction's ships.

Would that be unreasonable?

Would what be unreasonable...? I mean there's nobody stopping you from playing on the server or building things. The only issue I can see is that those ships are a very small.

There's a certain element to gigantism in Starmade, where ships are required to be disproportionately huge in order to be combat effective at all.

For example:
person compared to heavy fighter

person compared to frigate

person compared to battleplatform

The question was more worded as a newby to an experienced starmade player:
is artillery a legitimate use for a ship, or is it a waste of bricks in a server where those bricks could be used for another frigate-class ship.

I'd envision an artillery ship being frigate class, but making it a cruiser-class ship would be the ultimate goal.
Have you ever heard of artillery in starmade at all? From a significant distance away?

Does everything in this game work on a large map in real-time?  What I mean by this, is do you have to warp to places to attack, or can you just maybe build a gigantic superweapon and fire some kind of rediculous attack at the enemy from afar?

In a sense yeah, I'm working on a frigate design that would utilize my new X7 artillery piece to focus down big targets from a distance and to cover a retreat.

it's 90m long, with 2.8km range and 30,000 DPS. definitely not a weapon that forgets around. I'm considering modifying the Fire Lilly frigates to sport one of these babies rather than a 411

We'll also use X7-equipped ships to form the main firing line in blockades.

It's a giant persistent world in real time yeah, but parts suffer diminishing returns the bigger they get so a weapon with a range over 3km would have to be enormously massive and expensive to produce, but they could do it in theory and it would probably provoke people to come in and destroy it.

There are so many things to learn about this game, and I am beyond fascinated. On the one hand I've got a lot of BL projects, on the other hand starmade is everything I could ever want in a spaceship game

Wow...  3km range is basically NOTHING in space.  Wouldn't inertia make it keep going?  I mean if you can make a super-ranged antimatter railgun, you probably won't have to get close to deal any significant damage.  You could fire from hundreds to thousands of miles away.

And sorry for bugging you.  I AM interested in this game.  I wanna find out what its like.

3k is 3 sectors
max space ship draw distance doesn't go more than like 2 at most

so uh
that's actually one hell of a lot

Oh damn, thought it was in kilometers.
Well now we're getting somewhere.

Do energy weapons simulate the speed of light when they fire?

If you can fry their communications first, that would be pretty cool.

well lasers are instant, antimatter cannons are like a machine gun (bullet speed, not laser speed) and it has slow rocket things

just download the game and see for yourself goddamn
