Saw this on the news.
Seems cool, but it can be a safety hazard. According to the news article I read, airplanes do not see drones on their radar. I also heard a Plane almost collided with a drone.
Would that really be a safety hazard...? If a plane somehow ran into one of these I don't think it would really hurt the plane...

But what if the drone was delivering missiles?

good thing they're making a warehouse in Wisconsin, actually 50% sure im livin by it :)

Well, the story showed it nearly hit the ENGINE.

This looks really cool, but I wonder what would happen if it DID hit the engine of a plane...

stealing all of the drones as they arrive

I'm guessing there's insurance with Amazon Prime.
there's insurance with everything you order regardless of your membership with a company, if something happens during delivery, it's not your fault, and generally you'd either get a refund or they'd send you another

if a plane is flying low enough to hit something like this, chances are there is a much bigger problem than whatever this would create
because I doubt these things would fly much higher than whatever is necessary to make it over obstacles

This wouldn't work due to crazy people stealing drones, birds eating the drones, drones crashing in general, and the short amount of time drones have power for their battery.

considering the fact that it's theft and they will most certainly have a way to find it, I doubt anyone is going to be stealing them
"birds eating the drones"...??? seriously?
anything can crash, that's barely a reason not to use them
and do you really think they haven't considered battery power? do you honestly think that you've thought of such an obvious issue that the designers with college degrees didn't think of?

pretty sure it would be 1 or 2 drones delivering everyone in the areas packages.

not the "flying million masses of drones because i ordered 100 {stuff here}"

Would totally attach explosivesfunny messages to the drones to take back.

I'm fairly confident the bird part was more of a joke.

I would do this as well.

LOL

it's a helicopter drone thing.

lol flying cars, this is basically a small helicopter with high quality equipment in it.

lmao flying cars
Don't be a cunt. If using drones to deliver mail around turns out to be cheap and efficent, it might inspire people to work on technology to move other formerly by land going forms of transportation to the air. Maybe as the technology to improve these drones becomes better and cheaper, they're able to carry humans around. Who knows.

Imo flying cars probably wont ever happen.
The only plus with flying now is that you wouldn't have to take routes and could just go straight to your destination (though planes and all that have flight paths set) but if everyone had flying cars there would have to be air highways as to avoid the millions of car crashes. These would be less practical than a regular road as the only way to mark them would be with more flying stuff that takes power, so then the only real pluses to flying cars is if they're more efficient and they look cool, and considering the power needed to sustain flight would most likely be more taxing than resistance on land it would end up costing more.
That and like breaks and stuff.
...So yeah.

Now if just some cool peeps had the cars to cruise wherever that would be sweet.
